Real Mum Reviews

Neve

Tomorrow my little baby girl turns 7 months old. SEVEN MONTHS!! – I am going to use the cliché again, but I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. Here’s the changes we’ve been witnessing this week!

Sitting up – Neve is now much more confident sitting up and loses her balance far less often than before. Her big sister loves sitting next to her, and will always have an arm out ready to scoop her back up if she falls – it is very sweet. There is something pretty special about seeing your two daughters sitting together and playing or having a ‘chat’. It’s a pretty priceless feeling.

Every day she is becoming more and more vocal, with a pretty constant babble and Dadda as a fairly regular phrase. I have been madly trying to teach her to say Mum, and whilst she watches my mouth intently she hasn’t managed to get the mmmm sound out yet, although she is trying to move her mouth in the right way bless her!

Weaning is still proving to be quite challenging, in that just like her sister she refuses to open her mouth very much at all! I have been giving her a combination of baby led foods (such as small pieces of toast, carrot, broccoli and healthy snacks) as well as pureed veg and fruit. Fruit is definitely her favourite (no surprise there), and whilst she knows what she needs to do with handheld foods, she still isn’t keen on having anything lumpy in her mouth (Cue lots of gagging and heaving!) This is NOT fun to watch as an emetophobic!

The nursery renovation project is well underway, and soon Neve will be moving into her own room. Whilst I will miss having her lying next to me, I am hoping she will sleep better away from the smell of Mummy’s breast milk and Daddy’s snoring!!

Erin

This week, Erin had a very exciting week in that her new big girl bed arrived, the one she had earned with her reward chart over the last few months.

She was so super excited when it arrived that literally as soon as she saw it (at about 5.15pm) she exclaimed that she was “A little bit tired” and asked if she could go to bed. It was really endearing and seeing her all tucked up in a bed that suddenly looked HUGE was a lovely sight. The first night she was a little bit disorientated and woke a few times, asking for a cuddle, a wee, a drink, and then lastly “to tell me a secret”. LOL – you have to admire her approach! I’ll be sharing a tour of Erin’s new room too once it’s finished, as I know how much people like to have a nose! 🙂

Erin also has a new visitor in her bedroom in the form of a little fairy, who she writes to and draws pictures for. This is another great idea for encouraging good behaviour, and the threat of telling the Fairy if she doesn’t do what she’s told is usually enough to make her snap out of it! 🙂

Erin’s bedroom has now become my favourite room in our house, and I am actually blogging from her bed at the moment (Ssshhh don’t tell her!)

*Don’t forget to come back and read / comment on others posts, you may be amazed how many people are in the same boat!!*

What Little Leaps have your children taken this week?
