Our Nursery project is now complete and I am super chuffed with the finished room. It may well be small, but it is now small but perfectly formed, and has become a wonderful place for my baby girl to sleep and play as she grows up.

Here’s a summary of the room and what we have inside!
We decided to go for a grey cloud theme. Why? The walls and carpet were lilac / grey and I love the fact its a non gender specific yet feminine pastel shade. The room looks light and airy which with such a small space was really important. Clouds seem to be very ‘on trend’ at the moment, and I liked the analogy of night time stars and a cloudy sleepy day 🙂
The cot bed we have owned for some time, having had this for Erin previously. It is the Summer Oak cotbed from Mothercare, which I believe has now been discontinued and replaced by something very similar called the Lulworth. It has three different height settings, and easily converts to a cot bed when she is bigger.
I know cot bumpers are controversial, but I love them and keep a close eye on the ties. The cloud bumper and star and cloud cushions are from The Little White Company. They are super soft, and I simply move them to the other end of the cot when she sleeps. I also love their reversible cloud blanket with both a white and grey theme.
Storage in a room this small was always going to be a challenge, so we are using the under cot storage tray to keep extra blankets and sheets. I hate the way you can see inside it at the moment, however this will open be the case for a few more months until we lower the cot.
In addition to this we also have the hanging cot storage from GLTC which is useful for popping in nappies, wipes, ointments and creams so that they are all close to hand during night time nappy changes.
We then have two larger storage cubes from GLTC on top of her dresser so that I can tidy away any toys or items that I don’t want on display.
Lighting
I have a bit of a new found infatuation with light boxes and love this mini light box from Next, which you can use to spell out all your own words and phrases. Erin keeps stealing the letters which is annoying as hell, but when they do stay put I love the way it looks.
The gorgeous cloud lampshade is from Dunelm – subtle warm glow rather than a bright overbearing shade.
Shelving and Accessories
I absolutely LOVE these Cloud shelves from Mamas & Papas – which come in a set of three. We only had room for the two larger ones, but there is a smaller coat peg cloud as well.
On the shelves I wanted a few items to give the room a bit of personality.
The Cloud Shelfie, Photo print and Russian dolls are all from Retro Kids – a website which you will be cursing me about in a few days time when your bank balance has been entirely depleted. I absolutely LOVE this shop and would happily buy the entire website if money was no object!
My Cloud reward chart from Spencer Brooke Designs is a great way of rewarding behaviour with children – slotting in a star every time they do something good. Clearly Neve is a little young for this yet, but having used reward charts with Erin for things like potty training, I know this will be well used as she grows up. In the meantime, the colours match the theme of the room perfectly.
The name blocks are home made – I decided to make these myself using off cuts from an oak stair spindle – they are a little on the rustic side but I love the finished effect.
Finally the chair is from Next – I wish the chair could’ve been bigger as its not the most comfy chair in the world, but then I guess at least there’s no risk of me falling asleep whilst I’m breastfeeding! With such a small space to work with, this was one of the only chairs we could find with a really small depth, and is just about big enough to perch my bottom and have a bedtime cuddle. Unfortunately I am spending more time sitting on it at the moment than I would like!
So there you have it, our finished nursery, and the room that our daughter will be growing up in.
