I recently invested in two of the newest Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew designs, ready for my 2nd babies arrival in September. We had such a great experience using the Neckerchew as one of our Teething Must Haves with Erin, and I LOVE the way they look, so figured it was about time to invest in some of the latest gender neutral designs! 🙂 We know we  are having a girl, (or at least that’s what they have told us!) but I have always loved to see girls in greys, purples and blues!

We are always proud to see some of the products we’ve reviewed on TV, so were over the moon when back in 2014, the Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew teething dribble bib appeared on Dragon’s Den! Despite the Dragons not investing (which has since been proven to be the WRONG decision!) we love the product and thought we would do a revisit on our post to show just how fab the Neckerchew really is!

We first reviewed the product back in December 2013, when my daughter was around 6 months old. We revisited this when my daughter was 9 months old, and she was still using and LOVING the product! It washed well, managed to withstand even the most aggressive of chewing, and was still very much loved by my daughter Erin. You can read our original review below!

Original Review of the Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew – first published December 2013

As you will know from my previous posts, my daughter has started teething. The teething process appears to be lasting forever, with no actual teeth having broken the surface as of yet!!! She clearly suffers with her gums, and spends most of her time with a teether, hand or anything else she can find shoved in her mouth!!!

As her mum, I appear to spend most of my day folding back sleeves on her babygrow, wiping away dribble and picking up or washing teethers that she has thrown on the floor.

When I heard about the Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew it seemed like the perfect solution – a dribble bib and teether all in one!!

The Product

Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew is the world’s first chewable dribble bib.

The product was dreamt up by two Edinburgh ‘mumtrepreneurs’, Julie Wilson and Amy Livingstone whilst on maternity leave with their children.

Catching up with friends and a gaggle of teething babies, they too spent most of their days picking up and washing discarded teethers, so the idea of the Neckerchew was born.

The Neckerchew features a unique textured triangle teether which is tactile, durable, washable and safe. It cannot be dropped, discarded or lost, saving mums time and ensuring hygiene for your child.

The bib itself is reversible and super absorbent with a hidden extra layer to soak up dribble in excessive quantities!! :)

Prices start at just £9.99 with a £1 delivery charge.

Our Experience

I put the Cheeky Chompers neckerchew on my daughter whilst she sat in her bouncer chair, and left her to her own devices.

Almost immediately and without assistance, she discovered the teething Neckerchew part of the bib, pulling it up towards her mouth and holding it like a piece of watermelon, chewing, biting and tugging on it with some force!! :)

As you would expect, this created a fair amount of dribble, but rather than leaving a wet trail all over her neck and chest, the dribble bib soaked up all the moisture, leaving the clothes beneath dry to the touch.

The bib fitted well, and is thick and comfortable around her neck, with two different press stud locations depending on how tight we wanted to have it.

I was pleased to be able to sit and eat my dinner in peace, knowing that the teether/chewable part of the bib could not be dropped and therefore wouldn’t need to be washed every 5 minutes!!

Pros:

  • Colourful attractive designs – the bibs are available in a variety of colours. This particular one was two tone pink and purple.
  • Good value for money
  • No requirement for mums and dads to keep picking up dropped and discarded teethers
  • Absorbent bib soaks up dribble and milk
  • No assistance or help required in holding the teether – perfect for tiny hands.
  • Reversible design means bib can be worn with a variety of outfits.
  • Teether is washable and 100% safe for babies to chew on.
  • A great gift for new mums / baby showers / stocking fillers.

Cons

  • The dribble does change the colour of the bib where it lands (unlike some bibs where it is hidden!) – this however didn’t distract from what is an attractive and practical bib.
  • A minor point, but the wash label on the back of the bib is visible when the product is on – this is however inevitable given the reversible nature of the design.
  • It would be great to be able to buy the bibs in multi packs so that there was a clean one whilst one is in the wash.

Overall we were really impressed with the Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew and would definitely recommend to mums with teething tots. It is an attractive dribble bib with a valuable added extra, and we have not seen anything else like it in the shops before.
