This is my first time taking part in Dear Beautiful’s ‘The Siblings Project’ Linky – a challenge to photograph my two children together once a month. Not only do I think this is a super cute photography challenge, but it will be lovely to look back at how they have grown up together throughout the year.

Neve is now 4 months old and her and Erin are forming quite the friendship! Now that Neve is getting a little bigger, she is really starting to interact with Erin and gives her lots of smiles, responding to her voice. Erin is slowly learning that she has to be gentle (she was a little over zealous with the cuddles at first!), although I did catch her trying to lift up Neve’s eyelids the other day (to check if she was asleep!!!).

The three and a half year age gap is working out perfectly (although I might not feel that way when I am returning to work and Neve starts nursery just as Erin starts school!). Erin has been a huge help with her sister, particularly if Neve is having a bad day or is upset. On Friday Neve was NOT a happy girl (a week after her injections so a delayed reaction I think). Erin was a superstar and helped me with breakfast and collected things for me when I had my hands full. She looked genuinely concerned to see her sister so upset, and came to help me when I tried to calm her with a warm bath.

Sometimes when I am feeding Neve on the sofa, Erin picks up her dolly and copies everything I do. It is very endearing and lovely to watch. Her favourite game as of late is to pretend to be driving the car. She pretends that Neve in her rocker chair is the baby in the backseat, that I am a big sister, and that she is Mummy in the drivers seat. We have to all put on our seatbelts before she drives us to the park. I love the role play and imagination.

This month’s photo isn’t a posed shot, and is a point and click on my iPhone so not the best quality, but I absolutely love it. Erin was holding Neve’s hand when she pulled it in to her mouth for a chew! (She is teething!). Erin let out a raucous laugh and found it hilarious. I love how genuine that laughter is, and I hope that they make each other laugh for many years to come! 🙂

I look forward to sharing more #SiblingProject posts as the months fly by! 🙂
