If you read my blog regularly you will know that I am a huge lover of Crafting. Particularly at Christmas. There is something extra special about sitting down with Erin and getting out a big box of craft supplies, rummaging through the box to grab hold of the bits we need and bringing out the scissors and glue for some creative one on one time, before showing Daddy our marvellous creations and then spending the rest of the evening peeling the glue off our fingers. Sometimes it is the simple things that bring the most pleasure! Since Neve was born, Erin and I haven’t done as much craft as either of us would like, but at Christmas – craft is a right of passage!
Vision Direct have a fab competition running this December called #ChristmasCrafted, where you can win a £250 Amazon voucher for showing off your up-cycled Christmas Tree creation! They are including Christmas Tree templates in every order made from their website, and sent us a box of goodies so we could give it a go – here is how we got on!
Inside our box there were lots of fabulous items we could use to decorate our trees, as well as the templates needed to cut the shapes out from the box (waste not want not!). I’ll be honest, with Erin around the chocolate coins didn’t last very long, but the Christmas confetti, pom poms, baubles and shreaded tissue were all perfect decorations for our tree.
To make our Christmas trees, we simply cut around the tree emplates provided, using the card board box from our delivery as it was thick and sturdy. Once the Christmas Tree shape had been cut, we simply cut the slit into each one, and then slotted them into each other to create a free standing 3D tree.
Next it was time to decorate, Erin was really keen to use the green tissue paper to make her tree a beautiful shade of green, whilst I went for a more ‘rustic’ silver shredded look. Erin then attached pom poms and Christmas confetti to her design, before helping me thread the baubles on to some festive Christmas string which we then wrapped around the larger tree. I have to say decorating these trees was much easier than the mammoth task of doing our own (which is still currently in the loft – we are yet to create space!)
After a bit of drying time (Erin was a little heavy handed on the glue) We then slotted her tree back together, and popped our finished trees up on display!
