Back in the 90’s, I was a proud and confident Brownie, and have such fond memories of the Girls Guides Association and the promise I made to ‘always do my best and be kind to others’. As part of my role in the Lottie Brownie Pack I recently showed Erin some photographs of me as a Brownie from my childhood and she loved them. She is now keen to be a Brownie as soon as she is old enough!

Erin loves playing with dolls but there is still a little part of me that wonders about what impact they will have on Erin’s thoughts around body image. The majority of dolls these days have such a perverse version of reality, that I worry they will give Erin an unrealistic expectation of what a girl should look like!

Refreshingly, Lottie dolls have been created based on the body measurements of a 9 year old girl. They have recently partnered with The Girl Guide Association to create their very own Brownie doll and we were sent the Brownie Lottie Doll to review.

Our Experience

Erin was really excited when she saw Lottie, particularly as she had seen pictures of when I was a Brownie and learnt a little about who they are. Whilst the uniform has changed quite substantially since I was a girl, the mission for the Brownies remains the same.

The Lottie Brownie doll comes in her very own carry box, which was not only attractive packaging, but great for popping Lottie into if Erin wanted to take her out with us when we went for dinner or to nannies house.

The Lottie Brownie doll really does look like a young girl – at 18cm high, she is slightly smaller then your average doll, with a very sweet face, big brown eyes and shiny black hair.

Lottie comes with the full Brownie uniform including the hoody, top and neck tie as well as jeans and shoes – all of which can be removed and easily popped back on again. Erin needed a bit of help with the woggle on the neck tie which was a little bit fiddly, but otherwise was able to do the rest on her own.

The best part about the Lottie dolls in my opinion is the lack of gimmicks – the doll is a blank canvas toy for a girl’s imagination, and Erin happily lay on the floor of our lounge acting out a little scene with Lottie for a good twenty minutes to half an hour as soon as we got her out the box.

Being a Brownie, I told Erin how much Lottie would love being outside, so Erin took her on lots of outdoors adventures, exploring in the garden, visiting the fairy house and hiding from Daddy!

At just £18.99, I love that Lottie is a high quality doll at a relatively low price tag. Outfits and accessories are available to purchase separately, and there are a range of other Lottie Dolls available, including Wildlife Photographer Mia and School Days Lottie.

Overall, Brownie Lottie was a huge hit, and something that I am confident will be played with for many months to come.
