Today, my little tiny baby girl, or my now not so tiny baby girl turns 8 weeks old. I know its a cliché, and I know EVERYONE says it, but I simply cannot believe where that time has gone. Here’s a little update about how we are all getting on! 🙂

8-weeks

Growth

Neve is getting bigger every single day. I jokingly call her my little fatty as she is MUCH bigger than Erin was at this point, and really enjoys her milk, so much so that she has a little double chin bless her! We walked to the clinic to get her weighed yesterday (Erin LOVES to help!) and she is now 10lb 11oz – and charting just under the 50th percentile, having had a little jump from under the 25th percentile where she started. She is starting to get a bit of a double chin and those adorable little rolls on her legs! 🙂 I love it and am feeling quite proud of how she is growing! 🙂

The most rewarding thing is that Neve has also started to smile, and definitely recognises her Mummy and Daddy! 🙂 She is also making little coo and goo noises when we chat to her which is really sweet, and her big sister loves that she is getting some kind of response! 🙂

Feeding

I am breastfeeding Neve and so far, it is going really well. Neve seemed to know what to do almost immediately after she was born, latching on quickly and has fed well ever since. I am incredibly lucky that I haven’t had any problems other than a bit of wind / colic pain on the odd occasion. The only real negative of breast feeding Neve is that I have a VERY strong milk supply and let down, meaning that at times, milk literally sprays everywhere! This can result in embarrassing wet patches on my clothes, as Neve gets a bit overwhelmed and spits milk out all over me! I’m sure that as feeding gets a bit more established and Neve’s tummy gets a bit bigger that she will cope better with the pace and less outfit changes will be required!

Sleep

Neve isn’t in any real pattern with her sleep yet – she sleeps anything between 2 and 4 hours at a time at night. She does go back to sleep very quickly after a feed though, so I am only awake for about 30 minutes at a time during the night which isn’t too bad. Erin was a TERRIBLE sleeper, or a bit of a grazer on the milk front, so at her worst would wake up every hour, so getting some chunks of sleep, even small ones, is a blessing in comparison!

Big Sister

Erin is LOVING being a big sister although I have lost  count of the number of times I have asked her not to poke Neve in the face. I think she is trying to be affectionate, but keeps rubbing her cheek or trying to kiss her and Neve gets a bit frustrated when Erin’s curly hair rubs on her face! I really cant complain though, as apart from the odd not listening day, she has adapted really well to not being the only girl in the house, and says regularly “I love my baby sister”, Its very cute. I am trying to keep her involved as much as possible, and even simple things like telling her I’m proud of her or getting her out her carseat first, seem to have a really positive impact.

Me

On another positive note, I am doing MUCH better! Even the lollypop lady on our route to preschool commented how much faster I am on my feet. I can do the 15 minute walk to preschool in 15 minutes now, rather than the 45 it was taking me a couple of weeks ago! 🙂 I would normally have taken things like that for granted, but I really really enjoy our walks with the pushchair now, and the weather so far is being kind to us!

I am still having physio and probably will for some time until the pain at night resolves, but for now, I am really pleased with the progress.

My scar is doing ok, although I am still a bit nervous about wearing jeans (as they tend to press against my scar) – I am therefore living in leggings and dresses at the moment (sexy!!)

I am slimming down (slowly) but still have a bit of a belly. Erin did tell me the other day though that I “didn’t have a big tummy anymore” so I guess I should take that as a compliment! I am around a stone heavier than my pre pregnancy weight, and hoping the more active I become that I can lose that reasonably quickly. I was however a little on the larger side before I started, so I’d like to lose around 2 stone. For me, when I am a size 10/12 I am at my happiest, so that is my goal. I am LOVING vegetables at the moment, so hoping that a diet full of meat and two veg will also do the trick! 🙂

Will check in again at 12 weeks! 🙂
