Neve is a big fan of the Cry Babies characters and really loves watching the TV series when she gets home from school in the afternoon. She also has been known to walk around the house singing the theme tune at the top of her voice and loves playing with one of Erin’s original Cry Babies dolls (Cry Babies Katie).

Cry Babies Magic Tears dolls have recently released a brand new range of Cry Babies dolls – Cry Babies Tutti Frutti, all of which are based on different fruits and come dressed in super cute fruit-themed pyjamas and are sweet scented too.

There are 3 new Tutti Frutti Cry Babies dolls, Ella, Mel and Pia. Ella is dressed and smells just like a yummy strawberry. Mel is dressed and scented like her favourite fruit, the watermelon and Pia wears an adorable pineapple outfit!

We were recently sent a Cry Babies Mel watermelon doll to review, who comes in an adorable green watermelon themed outfit.

Neve’s first impressions of Cry Babies Mel were really positive. She absolutely LOVED Mel’s super soft touch velour watermelon outfit, complete with yellow flower and leaf on the hat, bright pink hair and dummy –  attached so it wouldn’t get lost. As with the other Cry Babies dolls, the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies dolls come with HUGE glistening blue eyes and a larger than life head, are a nice size to hold and have posable arms and legs that move and can change from lying down to sitting without needing support to hold them up.

The Cry Babies Mel watermelon doll has a sweet scented swell of watermelon, that is noticeable without being overbearing.

Like previous Cry Babies dolls, the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies cry real tears and make little baby sounds, crying when their dummy is removed and making contented giggles and goo’s when they are calm and happy. You can lie them down to stop the tears or pop their dummy back in to calm them down.

The Cry Babies dolls really help encourages positive nurturing behaviour as children play, and its been really lovely to watch  as Neve tries to settle and calm her baby, hearing her say ‘shhh its ok sweetheart’ to her as she pops her dummy back in!

How do the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies Dolls Cry Real Tears?

The Tutti Frutti Cry Babies dolls cry real tears and work via the water channel to the rear of the head. When the hood is removed you can open up the channel at the back of the head and fill with water. It is recommended that you use bottled / filtered water here rather than from the tap to prevent any corrosion inside the doll. When you first fill the doll, you press the button to push out any air that may be trapped inside, then from that point forward, when the button is in the on position, Cry Babies Mel will cry real tears whenever her dummy is taken out.

It’s worth noting here that the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies dolls cry a fairly significant amount of water, so you should be aware that the kids clothing may get a bit wet, bring a towel or have a tissue or muslin to hand to wipe the water away, or else things may get a little damp! Neve really loved trying to wipe all her tears away with a tissue and stop her from crying.

The tears can be quickly stopped by popping the dummy back in her mouth or lying the doll flat.

The question all parents will want to know is – how loud is the crying?

Well, I will be honest, the crying IS quite loud, although not as much as the previous version we had of a similar Cry Babies doll. The good news is there is an off button underneath her clothing, so if you prefer the kids to have a calmer quieter playtime, you can simply turn off the sounds and tears and she can just be played with as a traditional style doll.

We think the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies are a great addition to the existing Cry Babies range and are lots of fun for doll lovers and fans of the TV series.

Tutti Frutti Cry Babies Mel is available at Smyths toys and retails at £24.99 which is quite reasonable for an interactive doll compared to others on the market.

The girls loved opening up all the different packets and bags inside the tub to reveal their Cry Babies characters inside. The scents were AMAZING, quite strong and obvious (more so than their larger counterparts) and they genuinely smelt like the fruits the represented.

There are 12 new Cry Babies Tutti Frutti characters to collect PLUS one rare which children will be super chuffed if they are lucky enough to reveal!

Each Cry Baby Magic Tears Tutti Frutti comes in its very own smoothie-shaped house and includes a mini smoothie / water bottle, a pacifier / dummy, a personalised sticker sheet which can be used to decorate their house and co-ordinating accessories including a spoon, bowl, sunglasses, and dress.

We opened up the lemon and raspberry themed Cry Babie Tutti Frutti Dolls and look how cute they are in their outfits!

By far the most exciting feature for the girls of the mini Cry Babies dolls was the fact that they also cry colourful jelly tears!

To make this happen you simply use their magic smoothie bottle to feed the dolls some water, wait two minutes and then gently squeeze their belly. We did this over the sink in case of any mess but it was such a funny surprise! The Dolls cry one of six different coloured tears!

Look at her go!

Each mini Tutti Frutti Cry Babies Magic Tears doll retails at Smyths Toys for £12.99 and is a surprise, so you don’t know which character you are going to get until you open up the bags inside.

All the items in the Tutti Frutti Cry Babies range are out now!

*We were gifted these items in exchange for our honest review, however as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own*
