There is just something about that Pig. Erin was a huge fan of Peppa Pig as a toddler, and even now at the age of 5 would quite happily sit and watch an entire episode or two when Peppa comes on TV. Now history appears to be repeating itself, as Neve who turned two this weekend, is becoming just a much of a fan as her sister. She makes a happy little snort noise whenever Peppa comes on the TV, and can now recognise and name all of the characters including Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Peppa and George, as well as her absolute favourite – the Dinosaur – rawww!

We wanted to get Neve some fun interactive toys for her birthday, so the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop seemed like a great solution, offering four fun games to help her learn whilst featuring her favourite characters and music that she knows and loves.

About the Product

With a portable carry handle and a little lift-up screen, the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn laptop is perfectly sized for toddlers to carry around on the go, and features 4 fantastic games to help little ones learn colours, numbers and letters. From a child’s perspective, it also resembles something very similar to Mummy and Daddy’s!

Including children’s favourite characters from the hit show, the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn laptop has a large chunky screen and big buttons making it easy to use for little hands, and with bold shapes and bright pictures on display it will really stimulate the senses and capture a toddler’s attention.

The Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn laptop requires 3 x AA batteries (included), is recommended for children 2 years and above and has an RRP of £14.99

Our Experience

Neve immediately recognised Peppa on the Laugh and Learn Laptop and her obvious excitement was great to see, she pointed at Peppa on the lid and said her name, before chanting “open, open, open!”

We very quickly ripped it out of the packaging (something that didn’t take much effort at all thank god as Neve isn’t one for patience!) and she started to engage with the product right away, flipping up the screen and pressing on the buttons. Her other presents stayed wrapped for quite some time, which is always a nice sight to see (as opposed to something being ripped open and discarded for the next one!)

The laptop lid / screen was very easy for Neve to lift up and she laughed at the first sound of the music starting to play. The music is chirpy and tinny with Peppa’s familiar voice – but be warned, it is on the loud side, so perhaps not a toy to get out if younger siblings are sleeping or if another family member is having a lie in!

The little handle on the right of the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop easily allowed Neve to flick from one game to another (out of a choice of four) and whilst I am not sure she fully ‘gets’ that there are four succinct games, she enjoys swapping between them and listening to the different requests and sounds that each game brings. At the moment, most of her interaction is pretty random, but I am sure as she gets older she will start to understand more of the learning elements of the game, which are colours, letters, numbers and word recognition. The screen lights up during play, capturing Neve’s attention well.

Neve has been known to have the odd temper tantrum or meltdown (I fear the terrible twos are starting already), and as such, I was really reassured to see that the laptop is quite chunky and robust, and as such, appears to be able to handle a bit of heavy handed play (either that or the squabbling that will materialise when Erin tries to steal it).

Peppa Pig Laugh & Learn Laptop

I absolutely love the little carry handle – there is something super cute about watching Neve wonder around the house carrying it like her very own laptop (just like Mum), before plonking herself down on the sofa and opening it up with a real air of importance, as if she’s suddenly realised that she has a crucial deadline to meet and must crack on and get the job done. She takes her ‘work’ very seriously does Neve.

I jest, but this photo of her just before bedtime tonight pretty much sums up how I feel at work during the week on nights when she’s had me up on the hour every hour the night before. Think someone was getting tired!!! 🙂

Peppa Pig Laugh & Learn Laptop

When you close the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop it plays a little tune before Peppa shouts BYE BYE – something which Neve finds hilarious, and repeats back and waves as if bidding her fairwell. Again, extremely cute.

Peppa Pig Laugh & Learn Laptop

My only real criticism of the Peppa Pig Laugh and Learn Laptop is that it is a little bit on the loud side, and there is no volume control or way of turning the sound off. This is a shame as it is the kind of product that would be ideal for distraction whilst in a restaurant, but clearly there is no way I could take it out in public with the music blaring away. The sounds can also can trigger if the laptop is knocked or pressed in error, which you can guarantee is normally at the point that you’ve just got said toddler to bed, and the worst possible time to hear Peppa’s voice! For me, an option to switch the volume between two levels and an off button for quieter play would be a hugely positive addition to this laptop, but for £14.99, I think it is a great little present for Peppa fans.
