Alternative Easter Gift Guide 2019
#AD – This guide includes press samples received in exchange for inclusion
Easter is one of my favourite times of year. I love the school holidays, the time me and Erin get to spend one on one whilst her sister is at nursery, the Easter egg hunt in the garden with my niece and nephew, and spending some proper family time together. It’s a chance to recharge the batteries, indulge a little and have a bit of a well earned rest. We do tend to buy gifts at Easter, however where possible I try to avoid getting masses and masses of chocolate. The girls have enough sweet treats as it is, and therefore we often look for chocolate alternatives and gifts that last far longer than just one Easter Sunday afternoon.
Here’s my round up of some great Easter gift ideas for 2019.
Chipmunks (chipmunksfootwear.co.uk) have some adorable wellies, shoes and slippers that make the perfect Easter gift.
These Elsa Pink Shoes are new this season and ideal for Spring – a classic Mary Jayne style shoe with patent leather, tear drop feature and a chunky extra grip sole and a fully adjustable touch and close strap. Available in infant size 4-12 and Junior 13-2. Available in Black, Pink Navy and Yellow leather.
These Katie Bunny Slippers adorable bunny slippers available in both grey and pink. Made from a warm supersoft terry upper and durable PVC Sole and with a velcro fastening, they are super easy for little ones to put on themselves! Available in infant size 4-12.
For an Easter bargain – These Lopsy Bunny Wellies are absolutely adorable, and at the time of writing this post, are reduced to just ÂŁ8!!! With easy to pull on handles and a cosy fleece lining, these are just the ticket for jumping up and down in muddy puddles!
One of the nicest parts of the Easter holidays is being able to spend some real quality time with the girls – days out, exploring the great outdoors and going on mini adventures. Erin is absolutely loving riding her bike at the moment, and whilst Neve is a little too young to peddle herself, we are hoping to introduce her to a balance bike so that she can easily progress to a traditional pedal bike when she is big enough. I love the traditional wooden bikes from Kiddimotto., which are a great trainer bike for children aged 3 and above. The Kurve Balance Bike has padded seats, a sturdy birch wooden frame, and pneumatic rubber tyres for a smooth ride. We love the bright 70’s style floral design!
Flying Tiger can always be relied upon to have lots of fun accessories and stationery gifts that won’t break the bank. With their pastel shades and cute characters, these notepads, pens and fluffy purses are super cute and sure to be a hit with kids and big kids alike! Erin always loves writing about all her Easter holiday adventures, and having her own mini notebook to do this with would go down a treat.
The girls are massive Miffy fans, and this loveable little bunny makes an ideal gift for little ones this Easter. The Official Miffy Shop has a huge range of gift options, so much so that you will be a little bit spoiled for choice! The girls absolutely loved this Miffy plush toy in her signature blue striped outfit. For older kids or adults, you can’t beat a hot chocolate before bed in this adorable Miffy Silhouette Mug.
Sticking with the Bunny theme this Easter, Sylvannian Families are another obvious and traditional choice. I absolutely loved Sylvannian Families as a child, and now nearly 6, Erin is just of the age where she is starting to enjoy playing with some of the smaller and more intricate sets. Erin absolutely loved the Chocolate Lounge set, acting out her own little chocolate shop scene, with a comfy leather sofa and a huge display of chocolate cakes, truffles and macaroons to choose from! Which one will their bunny choose first? With lots of teeny tiny pieces, I would recommend this set for older children and that the pieces are safely stored away when not in use if you have younger siblings.
For younger children like Neve (who is now 2 and a half) these Ravensburger Farmyard Animals Puzzle makes a really fun Easter gift, featuring a range of different farmyard animals to piece together in pairs. With large chunky pieces, perfectly sized for smaller hands, the set has 9 different brightly coloured designs, with the frame giving a little hint as to what animal is featured inside. Neve has really enjoyed tipping all the pieces out the box and gradually working her way through the set. Great for hand to eye coordination, and visual recognition, this is both an educational and fun gift.
Moshi Monsters have released a fun Egg Hunt kit which is the ideal solution to pop into plastic eggs as an alternative Easter Egg Hunt treat. The Egg Hunt collection has 7 moshlings inside, 5 of which are already revealed and 2 of which will be a fun surprise! Our Easter Egg Hunt is the highlight of the girls (and my niece and nephew’s) calendar, so I will be sure to pop some of these little moshlings inside this year! 🙂
I am all for a bit of quiet time too during the holidays, and when things get a bit lively or the girls need a bit of down time, I let them watch some of their favourites on the iPad. We were recently sent an iGuy iPad case from Speck which not only looks like a super cute little character, but protects your iPad from getting damaged when it is inevitably dropped, knocked over or sat on! Available in two different colours to suit your child’s preference, this is an Easter gifts that the grown ups will be thankful for too!
Earlier this month we reviewed the NEW Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic (Season 5) and they were a huge hit with the girls. These fun eggs are great to crack open and instead of chocolate inside, there are fun little collectible characters inside, with colour changing technology! Pop them into warm water and watch them change colour in a flash! You can see our full review over on the blog here.
Finally, just because the children may be having their chocolate intake limited, doesn’t mean that the grown ups can’t indulge a little. I always look for experiences that me and Mike can do together as something a little bit different from the norm. This fun Chocolate Making Workshop for Two from Buyagift.co.uk is a great option for an Easter gift and can be taken all year round in 3 different locations across the UK. In this fun day out for two, you will be taught by professionals in the delicate art of piping, cutting, dipping and decorating. You will have the chance to taste a wonderful selection of hand crafted chocolate before making your very own personalised giant chocolate button and truffles that you can take home as a momento of your day! Bliss!!
What ever your plans this Easter, I hope you and your family have a good one!
