Father’s Day Gift Guide

Father’s Day Gift Guide

With just two weeks to go until Father’s Day, if you haven’t done so already, now is the time to start thinking about what to get the Men in your life, a little something to say thank you, and remind them just  how grateful you are to have them around.

This year I have been seeking inspiration for three Daddy figures in my life – my own Dad, who has been there for me through all of lifes ups and downs, Mike’s Dad, who looks after my own children twice a week with so much love and admiration, and Mike, with whom quite frankly I’d have crumbled into a broken mess of sleep deprivation a long long time ago. These three Daddy’s are all a hugely important part of my life, and I don’t say it often enough, but I love them with all of my heart.

Whoever you are buying for this Father’s Day, here’s some inspiration of what you can give them to say thank you! 🙂

The Cards..

Hallmark Cards have a great range of Father’s Day cards to suit every kind of Dad. We absolutely love these two designs in particular… the 3D beer crate card, and card with thumbholes, which once opened leaves your Dad holding a well earned pint (in illustrated form at least). These fab cards with a Itty Bitty or two (the Muppets & Star Wars ranges are ideal!) are a fab start for Daddy’s treat from the little ones.

For the Dad who likes to dress well….

Mike has to dress formally every single day for work, and working in sales, that first impression is absolutely crucial. He always has to look professional and smart at all times, but he also wants the freedom to not wear the same thing day in day out. For office workers, Dobell have a fab range of stylish yet affordable suits to work with a range of budgets, including this Navy 100% Wool Tailored Fit Suit. I love the colour for something a little different from the standard black or grey!

At the weekends, Mike loves to be a little more casual, mostly being seen wearing a pear of chinos or jeans and some good quality trainers. For Dad’s who love their brands, Mainline Menswear have a fab range of designer trainers including these Ted Baker Kiefer trainers with geometric design. With subtle Ted Baker branding, but quality and comfort that are perfect for weekends chasing after the girls, I am confident these will be a huge hit.

For the Dad with a sweet tooth…

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his tummy, and when it comes to Mike, this statement definitely rings true! Mike loves sweets and chocolates, but for special occasions like Father’s Day, it’s nice to be able to give him something a little different.

Copperpot Originals have a really lovely idea for Father’s Day with their limited edition Fathers’s Day Copperpot Giftset – a box of their finest butter fudge (hand broken to give a crumbly texture) along with an adorable miniature Copperpot mini delivery van. For just £8.50 for the set, what’s not to love?

Having grown up in the 80’s Mike’s also a huge fan of retro sweeties, and can often be seen walking around with a bag of shrimps or bananas (forever a child at heart!). I absolutely love these Sweet Words – I love Dad boxes from Retro-Sweet.co.uk – the home of 80’s sweets. With each box crammed full of some of his absolute favourites including Swizzles, Love Hearts and Cola Bottles, spelling out a message of love, this set is the ideal gift for Daddy from the girls.

For the Dad who has everything

I find my own Dad really difficult to buy for, largely because as a man who lives alone and has a reasonable disposable income in his retirement, if he wants anything, he pretty much just goes out and gets it for himself. This year, thanks to Buyagift.com – we have been able to give him the freedom to choose his own gift, and unlike a traditional present which may be forgotten pretty quickly, this year I wanted to pick something a little different – an experience that we can enjoy as Father and Daughter together. The Smartbox Ultimate Time Together box from Buyagift.com, allows Dad to pick from a wide range of experiences, from Michelin Style Dining, to Cookery Classes, Helicopter Flights and Supercar driving – the kind of experiences we will be talking about for many years to come.

For the Beer Lover

Mike’s Dad is a huge lover of a good quality ale and beer, and so when it comes to treating him, we always know the kind of present that will go down a treat.

Mick will absolutely love this Dad’s Beer Crate – a rustic wood crate filled with 12 British Beers from award winning microbreweries across the UK. This crate is perfect for Summer BBQ’s and can be reused for garden gatherings long after the first round of beers have been and gone! 🙂 With 12 different bottles, this crate features something for everyone including golden ale, pale ale, bitters and a few dark ones too, and just in case Mike gets tempted to nick one for himself, the hands off message is pretty clear!

As a Dad present right of passage, most Dads receive socks at some point at birthdays, Christmas and special occasions. On their own however, socks can be practical but just a little bit boring…. Why not mix things up a little bit this year with the Hobson’s Father’s Day Gift Pack – 5 delicious Hobson’s beers, and a pair of limited edition Hobson’s branded socks! 🙂

For the Dad who wants to care for his skin…

The new Wilkinson Sword Hydro Sense 5 is ideal for those who like a close shave, featuring ground breaking shock-absorbing technology, auto adjusting to the amount of pressure applied to your skin for a customised irritation free shave.

Nivea Men have also recently launched a new body shaving range including anti irritation shaving gel, body shaving stick and after shave lotion, for an efficient, fast and protected body shave with minimal irritation. The official partner of Liverpool Football Club, this range is ideal for footy fans too! 🙂

For the Active Dad

The Lumie Bodyclock Active 250 (worth £99) is the refreshing way to wake up. It’s effective for healthy sleep (via light therapy and using a tailored wake up to ensure optimum waking times), sports training and energy at work.

Not only can the Lumie Bodyclock help Dad get a better nights sleep, but ensure that when he does wake up, he does so in a more natural and less disruptive fashion, leaving him feeling more refreshed and motivated for exercise or training, and making sleeping and waking easier in the days that follow.

For the Dad who loves to go for a run / workout, but doesnt want to sacrifice on his favourite playlist, the Sol Republic Amps Air wireless earbuds are ideal. With no wires, sound port or neckbands required, these bluetooth ear buds are rain and sweat resistant, compatable with all bluetooth devices, and even feature an integrated microphone for calls that come through during his run. A great gift for any active Dad.

For the memory maker…

For the wannabe photographer who wants to not only capture the memories on film but produce long lasting photographs and memory boxes at home, the Epson XP-960 is the perfect choice. With the ability for Mike to print work documents in up to A3, as well as wireless printing and scanning from his smart phone or tablet, we will soon be able to enjoy more of the photos he takes of the girls out on display, instead of stuck on our devices where we aren’t able to enjoy them!

I hope the above serves as a little inspiration for you this Father’s Day! 🙂 Whatever your plans, we hope you have a great day with the family.
