Get Ready for Back to School with Clarks

#AD – This post is in collaboration with Clarks Back to School and contains affiliate links

In just a small matter of days, our lives will return (somewhat at least) to normality. The late nights will come to an end, everyone will return to their own beds (no excuses!) and the early rises and school run madness will return. Are you ready?

When I was a little girl, I always remember heading down to Clarks with my Mum to get my new pair of school shoes ready for the start of a new term. Life was a little different back then, with no option to order school shoes online, so we used to head down to our local Clarks store early in attempt to miss the masses, with the lure of trying on “magic shoes” and having my feet measured on the electronic stand in foot measure enough to bribe me into cooperating. If I behaved, and didn’t get distracted by a sparkly pair of non school shoes elsewhere in store, I would even be allowed to get a new pencil case or rucksack afterwards too, and trust me when I say, that carrot dangling was more than enough to get me excited!

These days, things have changed somewhat. Not only can you now order Clarks school shoes online from the extensive range on their site, but Clarks have taken loads of steps to simplify the ordering process, whilst still living up to their reputation for high quality, built to last shoes that can withstand what ever your child will throw at them when they walk through those school gates.

You can now book your free Clarks shoe fitting service online, at a time to suit you, at over 500 stores across the UK including concessions, helping you beat the queues and make your shoe shopping experience all the more calm. You get a 15 minute slot with a trained fitter, who can help you not only select the right size for your child (including half sizes and a variety of widths from to suit the narrow foot to the wide) but also recommend from a wide choice of styles depending on their preference. Even better, bring along your child’s old pair of Clarks shoes and they’ll check whether they’re still a good fit.

Clarks also know that for some children, and for those with sensory / SEND needs, shoe shopping can be incredibly overwhelming. They also offer Quiet Time appointments without the crowds, noise and bright lights. To book one of these sessions simply get in touch with your local Clarks store. To find out more, give Customer Care a call on 01458 899 904.

As a child with extremely narrow feet, and with one foot ever so slightly bigger than the other, we found our trained fitter’s advice really helpful, and Erin saw a couple of pairs in particular that really took her fancy.

First was the Etch Spark Kid, a black patent shoe which immediately caught Erin’s attention with its large 3D gemstone and glittery insole (what child doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?). Etch Spark Kid had a flexible soul, padded collars for comfort (and to prevent rubbing against the back of the ankle!) and had a large single velco riptape. A classic bar shoe just like the ones I used to have as a child, but with a modern twist.

Then however, she spotted these – Scala Tap Kid -with a pretty textile bow on the front – with a antimicrobial Agion lining for lasting underfoot freshness (no more stinky sweaty feet!), these shoes had a slightly slimmer profile and looked great on. Again with a simple velcro rip tape to fasten – I could be confident that these wouldn’t be slowing us down in the mornings!

After a bit of walking up and down like she was on a catwalk (a school shopping right of passage!) Erin decided these in an E width (due to her extremely narrow feet) were just the ticket.

With Clarks shoes having been put through 60 different tests to ensure they are fit for comfort and purpose, we both left the store feeling pretty happy with our purchase!

If you haven’t got time to head to store now before the new term starts, don’t forget you can still order Clarks shoes online from their wide range of styles for boys, girls, toddlers and teenagers. Use the code SCHOOLSBACK at checkout for FREE next day delivery.

Whatever the school term brings, I hope you have a good one. As for the early wake ups and the school run madness, I feel your pain and wish you the best of luck!

Lucy
