Now that the sunshine has finally made an appearance, many of us are looking at fun ways to entertain the kids in the great outdoors this Summer. Festivals are a great way to spend quality time with your family, whilst enjoying some great music, entertainment and activities and this year, Godiva Festival has an absolutely amazing line up, with plenty to entertain and enthral children of all ages.

What is the Godiva Festival, Coventry?

In exciting times, Coventry’s Godiva Festival is returning this summer for a fabulous 3-day event, having graced the fields of War Memorial Park now for over 25 years!

The largest family festival in the UK, this hugely popular festival, run in conjunction with Coventry City Council, offers a main field and a family field, each offering a tailored experience. This year, the Godiva Festival will feature incredible live music from top-name acts including Mel C and Diversity, as well as the very best of the Coventry music scene and some unmissable family-friendly attractions. Where is it?

The Godiva Festival is held at Coventry’s War Memorial Park – Kenilworth Road, Coventry, CV3 6GF. There is car parking available on site (£10 a day) or the park is just a ten minute walk away from Coventry train station.

When is the Godiva Festival?

 The Godiva Festival runs from the 30th June to 2nd July with opening times as shown below:

Friday 30 June 6pm – 10:30pm
Saturday 1 July 12noon – 10:30pm
Sunday 2 July 12noon – 7pm

What is the theme for this year?

The Godiva theme this year is ‘Go Wild’ – Organisers and partners are encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the theme and come dressed up, with face paint and really Go Wild!

How much does the Godiva Festival cost?

 The Godiva Festival day tickets vary by day, but start at just £23 for a family of four. Full pricing information can be found at Godiva’s website.

Whats the best day to attend with kids?

Whilst the festival has activities suitable for kids on all three days, the Sunday 2nd July offers the widest choice of activities and entertainment for kids.

Top 10 reasons to visit in 2023 with kids

There is so much to look forward to at this year’s Godiva festival. As well as some great music and entertainment on the main stage, here are just a few of the top reasons to visit this Summer

  • Diversity – Street dance troupe and Britains’ Got Talent winners Diversity are headlining at Godiva on Sunday 2nd July, with their jaw dropping routines that are sure to get the party started! This is a dance act that really has to be seen in the flesh to be believed, with some gravity defying flips and skills from Ashley and Jordan Banjo and the crew!
  • Mel C – Melanie C, most widely known as sporty spice from the Spice Girls, has gone on to have a pretty impressive solo career! She’s also gracing the stage on Sunday 2nd July, and as the only female artist to top the UK charts as a quintet, quartet, duo and solo artist in British music history, she has some epic tracks to get the whole family up on their feet!
  • Giant Dinsosaurs – Are your children Dino obsessed? This year these super impressive giant dinosaurs are making an appearance at Godiva with two fantastic shows repeated throughout the day on Sunday 2nd July – How to Train Your Dinosaur and the Fabulous Dr Fossil show. The shows feature 4m long and 2.5m high Baxter the T-rex and Tiny the Triceratops – who is quite the opposite of his name! Incredibly life-like and sure to make your children say WOW, don’t forget to bring your camera for a Dino Selfie!

  • Bhangra Tots – Ever fancied yourself as a bit of a Bollywood dancer? The incredibly talented and hugely entertaining award-winning artist Sohan Kailey will be offering special interactive performances of Bhangra dancing that’ll help the entire family, even the youngest, find their inner rhythm!
  • Art Lab – Time to get creative? Godiva’s Art Lab is packed full of hands on activities for children to use their imagination, with lots of make and do – from wild masks, wild animal ears headbands and eco art, to making bird seed balls and wild flower bombs, these drop in sessions run all day long on Saturday and Sunday (parental supervision required)
  • Festival Sloth – Have your kids ever met a Sloth before? They can at Godiva! These giant Sloths are just like the real thing, only more cheeky and sure to raise some laughs! Whether they’re stealing your hat, giving fist bumps or messing up your hair, you can even meet the adorable Baby Dribble, who hangs on to his Sloth Handler and loves to snuggle! Children will love chatting to the handler about the bizarre sloth habits, who will be happy to answer any questions they may have!

  • Treemendous – Fitting in with the Wild theme, children will be craning their necks to see the Treemendous trees making an appearance at Godiva this summer. These huge (and cheeky) ancient Trees will be working their way through the crowds and keeping a look out at the traditional woodworking craftspeople in the Life & Times” marquee. With demonstrations of traditional craft – from bodging to green-woodworking as well as blacksmithing and thatching – children can learn a thing or two about all things wood!
  • Coventry Community Circus – For some traditional family fun, you can’t beat the fun of the circus! Coventry Community Circus will be teaching children circus skills across the weekend, whilst the clowns from Clowns with Borders (an award winning charity) will be wondering the site showing off their talents!

  • Hawkwise falconry – Want to get close to nature? The static display from Hawkwise falconry is a great opportunity for your kids to meet birds of prey and learn more about these fascinating and beautiful creatures.
  • The RIg Musical Playground – The Rig’s interactive, musical playground is fully accessible and the perfect venue to allow kids to get creative and bring their own music to life! From sound experiments and using the objects to make instruments, they’ll soon be making sweet music!
