How to Take Care of Your Skin in Your Thirties
Your thirties are wonderful time when many feel a bit more settled, but in terms of your skin during your thirties, it is also a time when your skin can start to show some developed stress and/or age. Hormones start to shift again around age 30 and taper off, which can lead to an increased breakdown of collagen production as well as other potential challenges such as acne and formed wrinkles. So this is the time to really tailor and lock in a dedicated skincare routine so you are giving your skin the best possible support!
Here are some skincare tips to follow during and beyond your thirties:
Cleansing
Cleanse your skin day and night with a non-stripping cleanser. At night, be sure you are removing all sunscreen and makeup so that your skin is clear during the night, when your skin does most of its rejuvenation. Be sure to adjust your cleanser based on what your skin needs the most, from a deeper cleanse to a more hydrating one.
Exfoliation
Gentle exfoliation removes buildup and dead skin cells on the skin and helps to reveal fresher skin underneath. Exfoliate in the night opposed to the morning so that again, it is best able to rejuvenate and renew overnight.
Hydration
Hydration is essential for your skin (not to mention the rest of your health). So drink eight 8oz glasses of water every day, and adjust depending on your unique needs and time spent in the sun. You also want to be sure you are using a moisturizer that soaks into your skin and externally hydrates your skin. You can try lotions, oils, or a mix of both since everyone’s skin is
different. Hydration goes beyond your face moisturizer and water, too! It is also important that you give your lips plenty of hydration. Great options are the nourishing balms such the rejuvenating Blue Lagoon lip balm that will leave your lips feeling hydrated and smooth.
Skin protection
Protect your skin during the day by applying a sunscreen every day. While hopefully this is a habit that you already have incorporated into your skincare routine, consider upping the SPF to around 50 with a dedicated sunscreen, not just what is in your makeup. The sun is one of the main causes for skin aging and damage if your skin is not protected properly, so always use sunscreen, limit your time in the sun, and use a sunhat as well if you are out in the sun to better protect your face!
You can also incorporate antioxidant serums into your routine, all great to incorporate into your routine to prevent early signs of aging and give your skin a boost.
