Itty Bitty Pretty Tea Party Teacup Dolls Playset REVIEW

Ad – Itty Bitty Pretty Tea Party gifted for review

It’s no secret that my girls absolutely love surprise reveal toys, but they are also fond of a tea party too. We recently discovered Itty Bitty Pretty – a unique, fun, surprise reveal tea party themed toy that contains loads of exciting surprises to unbox and reveal inside! Thanks to the team at Zuru, we were sent some of the Itty Bitty Prettys Tea Party Surprise sets to check out!

Here’s what you need to know about Itty Bitty Prettys!

Itty Bitty Prettys Tea Cup

Itty Bitty Pretty toys are collectible dolls that come in surprise bags with their own range of swappable and interchangeable accessories. As with most surprise reveal toys, the anticipation and excitement comes from the reveal itself and on that front, Itty Bitty Pretties are fairly unique!

The large Itty Bitty Prettys playset retails at £29.99 and comes packed in a giant tea cup ready to unbox. The tea cup itself becomes part of the playset after opening as opposed to just being part of the packaging.

Neve literally couldn’t wait to start unboxing her Itty Bitty Prettys tea cup!

What’s inside the Itty Bitty Pretty Tea cup?

When you first open up the lid of the giant Itty Bitty Pretty tea cup, you can see straight away that it is packed full of blind bags and surprise packages to open up and reveal, along with a selection of tea party plates, accessories and a smaller tea pot which can be filled with water (they need that later!)

Neve opened up one of the larger blind bags first to reveal a beautiful Itty Bitty Pretty doll inside.

She has bright pink hair, glittery eyes and make up and the start of what appeared to be a cat outfit – with a black leotard and whiskers painted on to her face. The accessories are to be discovered in future blind bags, but Neve fell in love with her immediately even without her full outfit!

The second character was a glamourous red heard with tiara and glasses and even full length gloves.

As a parent, it was great to see that the blind bags were mostly made from thick paper and not plastic. Big thumbs up there as it’s good to see reduced plastic where you can!

Next up, Neve tore open another blind bag to reveal lots of teeny tiny plates, cups, and cases – each of which have to be twisted out of the plastic holder to separate them out. It’s worth saying that these are really tiny, so be careful if you have younger siblings but also I wish there had been a small suitcase or pot to store these in so they don’t get lost!

The purpose of these small little plates and pots soon became clear when Neve popped open the next few blind bags. Inside was this foamy slime – a cross between kinetic sand and slime with glitter embedded throughout. This was super soft like blue tak but also super stretchy and could be moulded into little blobs to create cupcakes and food items to pop on the accessories we had previously opened.

There were 3 different colours of this in the blind bags and the purple was Neve’s favourite for sure!

I’m not going to lie the moulding of the foam into little cupcakes was quite fiddly and Neve did lose interest quite quickly on this part so definitely not our favourite element of the Itty Bitty Pretties set. I think had there been somewhere small and secure to store these I’d have liked this a little more.

One of the most unique elements of the Itty Bitty Pretty tea set is the elements that are really related to tea. The first of those is the Let’s Part-tea tea bags, which need to be added to warm water to dissolve and reveal the accessories hidden inside.

Neve was so excited to drop the little tea bag into the cup and use the spoon to spin it around until the bag dissolved.

Inside there were a number of clothing accessories for her dolls including a little dress, shoes and top. It’s worth saying here that the dissolved material can make the water a bit gloopy, so it is recommend that you rinse off the accessories in clean water after to make sure they don’t have bits of the ‘gel’ like substance left on them.

Once we’d washed the accessories off, Neve really enjoyed dressing her Itty Bitty Pretty doll in her full outfit – which was very cute!

Next up was dissolving the ‘sugar cubes’ – bath bomb style cubes that again needed to be dissolved to reveal the accessories inside!

Itty Bitty Pretty

Neve really enjoyed plopping her sugar cubes into the warm water and stirring them as they dissolved. The water turns quite glittery and we did have a little spillage, so might be useful to have a towel down to be on the safe side!

Once the cubes had dissolved, we fished around in the water to pull out some teeny tiny earrings. The dolls each have little holes in their ears so that these can be delicately slotted into place.

Finally, in the last remaining blind bag were these tiny little pets – we aren’t entirely sure what animals they are although it looks a little like a cat and a lizard, but Neve ADORED these and has held on to them pretty tightly ever since!

Our overall verdict

Overall, the Itty Bitty Pretty Tea set was a really fun surprise reveal toy, with absolutely loads of fun and interactive elements to open and reveal. We both loved the addition of the dissolving tea bags and sugar cubes, which really built up some anticipation and made it much more exciting than simply opening a bag or wrapper.

The dolls themselves are very cute and come with swappable outfits for the characters which prolongs the play beyond the initial opening. Neve has really enjoyed dressing her dolls and changing their outfits, as well as playing with them in the giant tea pot itself too.

There are some elements which just didn’t work for me personally, mainly the tiny plastic elements with the stretchy mouldable foam. Whilst Neve really enjoyed playing with the foam itself, the plastic elements haven’t really been used so it felt like a bit of waste. The teapot is super handy for storing all the parts back in, however as I mentioned earlier I would’ve loved to have seen some draws or pots with lids for storing the smaller pieces in.

Itty Bitty Prettys

There are also smaller Itty Bitty Pretty sets available so you can collect additional dolls and I think this is where the large tea pot can become really useful as a ‘home’ for all the characters as your collection grows.

The two characters in the large tea cup can also be some exclusive dolls, so not available to collect with the smaller tea cup collectibles. We didn’t yet find the super rare itty bitty pretty – Royal Tea – but Neve loved both characters she received.

Itty Bitty Prettys collector sheet

Overall – if you have creative kids who love surprise toys and dolls with accessories, Itty Bitty Prettys are sure to be a big hit.

The Itty Bitty Pretty Tea Party playset is available in all good toystores now retailing at £29.99.
