GIVEAWAY – Jewellery with a Story at Jewellery Box

When it comes to jewellery, I am a huge fan of things that are sentimental. Whilst I don’t own a wide selection, the pieces that I do have all have some kind of meaning. A special memory, a keepsake, a reminder of times gone by, something special that means something to me, even if that meaning isn’t immediately obvious to the outside world.

Floating lockets have recently become really popular, and for someone like me, they are a great way of carrying around a little piece of sentiment with you, presented in a way that is stylish yet makes a statement.

My floating charm locket comes in the form of a large glass circle in which you can add up to four floating charms, which move around inside and can be changed, added to or removed as you wish. This makes them a fun birthday or anniversary gift, as the recipient can change the contents depending on their mood. The range at Jewellery Box is fantastic, with different size and shape lockets and a range of floating charms to chose from, with prices starting at just £3.55 for sterling silver charms.

For me, family is always going to be a huge feature of my jewellery. Having lost my Mum to cancer in 2014, I always like to have things with me that remind me of her, and this family tree charm is my little way of doing that. I think the Mum that I am today is very much a part of my roots, my upbringing and my own childhood, and she taught me how to be a good mother, a friend, and a confident. I hope it stays that way as my girls grow up. I love learning about the history of my family, and have spent quite a lot of time researching my family tree. There are a few gaps in our history where I have come unstuck with my research, but I love the learning about the generations of family from times gone by, and learning about their jobs, their past times and their experiences.

The heart in my floating locket represents love. Love for my partner, and my two beautiful girls. I didn’t know true love until I became a parent. It’s a cliché but it’s so true! People always tell you this when you’re expecting, but until you hold those little bundles in your arms for the first time you can’t honestly believe it. The love washes over you and suddenly this little person becomes your absolute world. When I was pregnant with Neve I was worried about how I could possibly love a child as much as I loved Neve. How I would cope with splitting that love between two little humans, both vying for my attention. I needn’t have worried – it was automatic the moment she was placed into my arms – it came completely naturally. Now, I have two girls who love each other almost as much as I love them. It’s the best feeling in the world.

Finally I have a luck charm – a four leaf clover. I have always considered myself to be a relatively lucky person, and back in the day used to be a pretty successful comper – maybe that’s something I should restart! From a personal perspective I have also have been lucky to have got through some fairly traumatic experiences in my life, from my Dad ‘project managing’ his own heart attack, to me surviving sepsis when Neve was born. I believe that luck is bought about by fate and karma, and that what goes around comes around. When you do a good deed for someone else, I like to think that the balance is at some stage, in turn, restored. Whether this is true or not, it’s a good message to live by, and one that works for me! 🙂

My locket is tailored to me, and for that reason, it’s a unique and special piece of jewellery.

I’d love a bracelet- I don’t have many as I have stupid tiny spindly wrists but big hands, so finding them to fit right can be tricky. I’d also like a couple of silver rings…. spoilt for choice!
