Kids Eat Free at Las Iguanas this Half Term

Kids Eat Free at Las Iguanas this Half Term

#AD – Complimentary meal in exchange for feature

Do you struggle keeping the kids entertained during half term? Do you want to go out for a nice meal as a family or to catch up with friends, but worry about them getting bored, or there being a lack of choices to suit all sorts of picky eaters? If you’re looking for a family friendly restaurant to visit this half term holidays, I think I may have just the answer!

This half term, Las Iguanas are running offering a Kids Eat Free promotion at their restaurants nationwide and we recently were invited along to Las Iguanas at Resorts World Birmingham to give it a try! Not only does this particular Las Iguanas have a great location overlooking the lake, its also just £2.50 to park when you spend over £20 in Resorts World, and cheap parking is always a positive!

This half term, each child can eat free at Las Iguanas (a Nino’s meal) with any purchase of an adults main meal from the A  La Carte menu (not included the tapas).  The children’s meals consist of a main meal with a choice of two different sides, a dessert and drink as well as a free book about Iggy the Iguana and his friends (with two new limited edition books to collect). The girls loved the books, and it’s lovely to have something you can take away with you too.

We were given a selection of mini characters on our table to play with too. Las Iguanas have also recently launched a range of cardboard cut out and build characters to collect (yay to no more plastic!), so you may have these ones at your local restaurant instead. The cardboard characters sound perfect for keeping little minds entertained whilst waiting for the food to arrive – you simply pop them out and slot them together to create 3D models of Iggy and his friends. Although we didn’t have the cardboard versions at our local restaurant, the girls really enjoyed the addition of the little toy characters on the table, as well as colouring in sheets and puzzles with a tub full of wax crayons too.

When it came to choosing their Ninos meals, there were lots of options to choose from, from burgers to meatballs. Erin opted for the crispy cod fingers, and Neve for the chicken crunchies made with crunchy corn crumb. Being able to choose the sides they want themselves from a choice of seven is really helpful, because like many youngsters, both of my girls have very strong views on what they will and won’t eat. Erin HATES peas (which tend to be the standard choice at most family restaurants), where as Neve as you know eats very little of anything, so finding rice as an option for the side dish was a real positive. Other options include wacky tacos and crazy quesedillas, so that little ones can truly embrace the Mexican vibe if they wish!

Whilst the girls were tucking into their Ninos meals, My friend Claire and I tucked into dishes from the main menu – I opted for fajitas which came stacked and sizzling hot, with all the accompaniments and sides you would expect!

Despite having consumed a LOT of food (the portions are generous) we just about found space for a dessert to share – and warm churros with a choice of dips was just the ticket. For her dessert, Erin opted for the vanilla ice cream cone, whereas Neve chose the Chilly Iggy strawberry and apple ice lolly – which was a huge hit!! They even give you the option to take these desserts OUT if you prefer, which is great if you have a younger child who doesn’t want to sit still for too long, or one like Neve who takes about an hour to consume and licks her lolly just like an iguana herself!

As if that wasn’t enough, Las Iguanas are also running a colouring competition nationwide, where children can colour in the sheets given in the restaurant and then submit a photo of their creations on the Las Iguanas website. The prize up for grabs will be 1 of 3 family meals for 4 people up to the value of £75 – a prize worth entering for sure!

We had a great afternoon at Las Iguanas. The girls had lots of fun and really enjoyed the extras on the table and there was no moaning waiting for the food to arrive. The service was fab, and the food was great value for money with the addition of the kids eat free promotion. If you’re after a family friendly restaurant this term where the meal wont break the bank, you can learn more about the Las Iguanas kids eat free promotion and check out their full menu here.
