Must-Haves For Your Kitchen

Must-Haves For Your Kitchen

*This is a collaborative post

For many the kitchen is the hub of the home, it is where you spend the majority of your time so it stands to reason you want it to be just right. Making your kitchen exactly how you want it goes beyond installing the beautiful bi-folds and irresistible island. There are a number of appliances and accessories that you can add to your kitchen to not only make it a designers dream but user friendly also, not to mention the added extras that can make it more desirable when it comes to selling your home. Here are some must-have accessories to consider for your kitchen.

A boiling tap

The boiling tap is a mod-con that will see an end to the kettle filling up your surface area. A boiling tap allows you to pour boiling water straight from the tap well, the water temperature is usually between 99 and 100 degrees, so near enough boiling. What is more these taps can also come fitted with a cold filter water function so you can get filtered water straight from your tap.

LED lighting

Lighting can really make or break a room so getting your kitchen lighting right is a must. LED lighting can use up to 90% less energy and costs a tenth of a halogen light bulb. Further, they will last an awful lot longer, over 20,000 hours longer. Given the amount of time spent in the kitchen that will work out to be quite some saving.

In terms of aesthetics to get your lighting right consider installing the lighter brighter ceiling lights for the practicalities of cooking and to open up the space. A well-lit room can make it look and feel larger. You will also want to install some dimmer alternatives to the all illuminating ceiling light and a great way to do this is to add some subtle indoor LED wall lights to create the perfect ambience for dining.

A built in self-cleaning oven

Yes, such miracles do exist and the benefits are self-explanatory. Self-cleaning ovens use high temperatures to burn away food and leftovers without the need for intense scrubbing and a cocktail of chemicals. These ovens can reach temperatures of 500 degrees centigrade to burn all the leftover deposits down to ash.

A wine fridge

Fridge space is a commodity as is having room to keep your wine chilled. Spare yourself the headache of moving everything around in the fridge and invest in a purpose built wine fridge. They come in all shapes and sizes and can match even the most modest of budgets. A wine fridge is that little bit of luxe that every kitchen deserves.

Coffee machine

If wine isn’t your thing then how about coffee? There are a plethora of coffee machines available from Nespresso pods to barista style machines that require fresh coffee beans. They might take a little getting used to and understanding how to use them but you will be making leaf patterns of your frothy milk before you know it. So why not treat yourself and your guests to a freshly made coffee from the comfort of your own home? Think of how much money you will save by not buying your daily latte from your local coffee shop.
