PJ Masks Air Jet Playset REVIEW

If you are regular followers of Real Mum Reviews you will know that both my girls are big fans of the PJ Masks series and toys. Three ordinary kids Amaya, Greg and Connor who when they put on their pyjamas and nighttime falls, become their super hero alter egos – Owlette, Gekko and Catboy. Action packed adventures follow where the PJ Masks trio attempt to fight villains and head into the night to save the day!
This Autumn; there is a brand new range of toys to support the latest episodes and the Heroes of the Sky special episodes that aired on Tiny Pop. We were very kindly sent a few items from the range to review with the girls, including the brand new PJ Air Jet Playset.
The PJ Masks Air Jet Playset is a transforming PJ Masks playset with lights and sounds and (happily for parents) comes with batteries included and ready to go.
The sounds on the PJ Air Jet include:
- The PJ Masks Theme Tune (short version)
- Zoom sounds
- Missile Shooter Sounds
The lights on the rear of the air jet are a blue light that flashes and pulses as the sounds play.
Ideal for children to carry around, the PJ Masks Air Jet Playset comes with a carry handle on the top.
A small pop button at the front of the Air Jet releases the wings for flying mode, where the winds span out like a bird, playing the sounds as it does so. This is great for the girl’s imaginations where they run around with it swooping and flying. When the air jet comes in to land, you can then simply push them backwards to fold them back in on themselves.
The PJ Masks Air Jet Playset comes with a super cute Cat Boy character included who can sit in the front cockpit of the air jet, with the window lifting up so you can easily pop him in his seat and close the lid.
Cat Boy is wearing his usual blue outfit with the addition of a cute cat helmet. He also has articulated arms and legs so he can sit down and stand up as required when the girls act out their own rescue mission scenes.
The girls favourite element of the PJ Air Jet playset was the missile launcher. It clips on to the right wing of the air jet and can be fired at your enemy, Daddy or any other non suspecting target!
It can also be removed and played with on its own.
It’s worth noting that the missile launcher only comes with one target and therefore you will probably spend the majority of your time trying to find this again when the kids inevitably shoot it under the sofa. I would have loved to see a few spares for this eventuality!
The girls loved playing the lights and sounds on the PJ Masks Air Jet Playset, but they did find this really quite tricky. The button is not a simple press down but a push back style button (presumably to enable it to release the wing mechanism), but both of them (aged 4 and 7) struggled to press it without some help from me.
In my opinion it would have been better for the sounds to be on a separate button which was slightly more straight forward to activate for small hands.
The girls have loved combining the Air Jet with other sets and characters from the PJ Masks range and creating their own missions – particularly trying to destroy evil villain Romeo.
Overall the PJ Masks Air Jet Playset was a big hit with the girls, and I love the fact that it comes with one character included, making it a great stand alone playset without requiring further purchases. With an RRP of £35 it is also one of the cheaper licensed TV character playsets I have seen.
The Paw Patrol Air Jet Playset retails at £35 and is available to buy now at Amazon.
Supporting products
If you do wish to supplement the PJ Masks Air Jet playset there are a number of vehicle sets available too – including the Gekko Mobile with poseable Gekko character.
These roll along playsets are super cute, and I love the way there is a little gap in the seat so that the Gekko’s tail can poke through!
