34 Weeks Pregnancy Update
I am 34 weeks pregnant today and the time, as always, is flying past. I can’t believe that in 6 weeks I will potentially have my second daughter in my arms (I say potentially, because if she’s anything like Erin she will keep me waiting a couple of weeks longer!)
Overall, I am feeling good, although definitely feeling more tired at this stage of pregnancy than I was with my first. I guess part of that is the constant running around after a 3 year old! With my first pregnancy, I finished work at 35 weeks, and pretty much spent most of the following 7 weeks resting or “nesting”. This time, although I work part time, I seem to spend a lot of my days off either tidying up, food shopping, attempting to clear a box room for the baby to sleep in or entertaining Erin in anyway possible! 🙂 I have 11 working days left in the office, and a LOT to do before I leave, this is leaving me a little anxious, but I have a plan of action and feel fairly organised, so fingers crossed all will go as expected!
Today, I was lucky enough to have a pregnancy massage at my local gym’s spa Heaven V. It was a New Beginnings treatment and was just the ticket, a full body massage including neck, arms, back, bump, legs and feet as well as a scalp massage and back exfoliation. I could’ve quite happily nodded off during the last part, I definitely felt very relaxed! Baby seemed to enjoy it too, as was merrily kicking away whilst I zoned out into another world! 🙂
I am still feeling relatively unprepared for baby number 2. Today, in a last ditch attempt to at least try and appear organised, I bought some more supplies for my Hospital Bag (I will be sharing my essential tips on this soon, having learnt some of my Do’s and Dont’s in the experience first time around!) and intend on packing it over the next few days. I have also bought a couple of little gifts for Erin from the baby, including a baby sister doll (so she can help mummy and look after her own little baby), and the VTech Kiddi Zoom Duo Camera, as I felt Erin would enjoy taking some of her own photos, particularly as I can be a bit of a paparazzi myself! I am probably most nervous about ensuring Erin is fully involved. We have been best buddies and inseparable pretty much since she was born, and the last thing I want is for her to feel left out or pushed aside. I have also asked friends that when they come to visit us, that they greet Erin first, and ask her to introduce them to her baby sister, I want her to feel an important part of the process! 🙂
On the less so positive side, I appear to have got my first few stretch marks, although they aren’t bad (yet!) and the heartburn is pretty much a constant thing! I wake every 3 hours during the night for a wee (virtually like clockwork!) and I feel like a look exhausted most of the time, but hey I’d better get used to that look! I am also carrying rather on the large side, so my face is now a little Moomin like, so I get regular comments such as “Wow, you’ve blossomed!” or “You’re ready to pop aren’t you!!”.
We have another scan on the 19th August, so am looking forward to seeing her one more time in the womb before we get to meet her in the flesh!
