5 Reasons to Revisit London this Winter

5 Reasons to Revisit London this Winter

This is a collaborative post

It’s been a while since I last went on the train to London – our thriving, bustling, beautiful Capital. No matter how many times I have been, acting like a tourist, buying souvenirs, checking out our famous landmarks and enjoying everything our city has to offer, I always, always want to go back. Being a city dweller myself, I fully appreciate the joys of city life, but with the global pandemic affecting so much of our travel arrangements over the last 18 months, I haven’t been as recently as I would like.

If you’re thinking about visiting London this Winter, here are some reasons why you should:

The home of theatre

If you’ve missed the celebration of arts, culture, live musicals and theatre during lockdown, then London’s West End is 100% the place to fill that void. Whilst many shows aren’t yet operating at full capacity, shows are most definitely back open for business. Trust me when I say there is nothing quite like feeling the acoustics of live music after so long away. Get your glad rags on, get yourself a babysitter and head out for a date night or night with the girls where you can sing and dance along to your hearts content.

London is quieter than you may think

Visiting London this Winter is likely to be quieter than you may think. With many other countries from Europe and beyond still facing travel restrictions, the usual international crowds of tourists in their droves aren’t flooding through as regularly as you might expect. This is a good opportunity to visit some of the more touristy attractions on your home soil without having to face some of the usual crowds you might normally expect.

Walking Tours

If you’re still feeling cautious, or feel more comfortable sticking to outdoors activities this Winter, London is home to a huge variety of walking tours where you can check out some of London’s many hidden gems on foot. With tours based around movies, music, history and food, walking tours can offer a truly immersive experience and help discover parts of London you may otherwise have missed!

Embrace in some Retail Therapy

There is online shopping, high street shopping and then there is London shopping. Everyone knows there is nothing quite like the latter, particularly after a year without browsing, trying things on and quite literally shopping till you drop. With much of London’s office workers now adopting a hybrid / blended working model, the traditional rush hour is less of a concern too – with even more valuable time to explore all of the shops our city has to offer.

Supporting our Tourist and Hospitality Industry

It goes without saying that the last 18 months have been tough on our hospitality and tourism industry, so if you have the ability to give something back, you are absolutely doing your bit to help rebuild and regenerate. I for one have missed afternoon teas, meals out with friends, coffee catch ups and street food flavours from across the globe. When it comes to eating out in London, you really are spoiled for choice.

Have you been to London recently? What do you love most about our capital?
