REVIEW – The Handmade Christmas Co. Personalised Sack

I am really stupidly excited for Christmas, and yes I know, its only November! A big lover of Christmas and tradition, I love having products and items that my children can grow up with (see My Christmas Traditions). Erin already has her own personalised Santa sack, and therefore despite the fact that Neve will only be 3.5 months old this Christmas, it was only fair she had her own! 🙂 I was given the opportunity to review a personalised sack from The Handmade Christmas Co. and immediately fell in love with their collection!

About

The Handmade Christmas Co was founded in 2012 by Tom Coleman & Louis Porter with the aim of creating an alternative to the traditional Christmas stocking.  In 2015, their collection expanded to include eight additional designs, each named after distinguished Englishmen from the Elizabethan period.

Individually handmade from the finest woven hessian and securely stitched with matching natural thread originating from the jute plant, each sack is hand finished in their London based studio. The collection consists of both personalised and non personalised Christmas sacks, making them perfect for young and old alike.

The normal RRP is just £22 – however for a limited time only if you use the code “REALMUM” at checkout, you can get your personalised sack for JUST £10 including free postage and packing. This is an absolute bargain, however they won’t be at that price for long!

You can see the full range of options on The Handmade Christmas Co. website – please note the last date for guaranteed Christmas Delivery is the 15th December 2016.

Our Experience

We took a while to decide which design to select – as with 9 different personalised options to choose from, it was not an easy decision! We eventually opted for ‘The Raleigh’ – inspired by Sir Walter Raleigh and featuring text outlining exactly when the contents are to be delivered! :). When personalising your product, you can specify not only the name of the recipient but also choose the font style, and what colour you wish the text to be printed. We opted for a Christmassy red.

Our personalised sack arrived very quickly, and was beautifully packaged in a thick quality cardboard tube with lid. This was really impressive and would be great for someone to receive as a gift in the post. Inside, in addition to the sack itself, is  a long high quality ribbon to use to tie the sack once it is filled with goodies! 🙂

I was really pleased with the quality of the sack. It is a thick natural product, and the sack was a large size (80 x 53cm), perfect for all the goodies my daughter will receive from Santa (as long as she continues to be good!!)

The personalised element is adorable, and the print is bold and easy to read. For privacy reasons I have blurred out my daughter’s surname, but in this particular design, (The Raleigh), the personalised element is the first name and surname, one on top of the other.

When you first open the product from the tube, the hessian does shed a few of it’s natural fibres, so my advice would be not to open it when wearing black trousers – or you’ll end up using sticky tape to get all the malted pieces off you! 🙂

I think the sacks are great value for money even at their full price of £22 and a beautiful product that can be used time and time again as part of your Christmas Tradition. We already have a sack for our eldest daughter, so this one is for my youngest, who at the moment is a little on the small side, but with whom this can be used year upon year as she grows up.

Pros:

  • Beautiful packaging
  • Great value for money
  • High quality natural product with bold personalised print.
  • Wide range of personalised designs to choose from, all with a classic and traditional feel.
  • Can be used over and over again each Christmas as your child grows up.
  • Large size with space for even the most lucky child’s present collection! 🙂

Cons:

  • Sheds slightly when you first open the product – not a big problem just something to be aware of so that you are careful when unpackaging. Once it is out the bag and opened up the amount of loss from the hessian is significantly reduced.

DON’T FORGET – use the code ‘REALMUM’ at checkout to get yours for just £10 including postage & packing.

Disclosure – I was sent a personalised sack from The Handmade Christmas Co. in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts, opinions & images are my own.
