Introducing LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets!

Erin is a massive fan of LOL Surprise! toys and with the exception of the odd later series of the original sets, she has pretty much experienced all of them. From the original LOL Surprise! Dolls to LOL Surprise! Pets and LOL Surprise! Confetti Pop, she has loved every single one.

Whilst as an adult, the huge appeal of these little dolls with their teeny tiny accessories might be a bit confusing, I am yet to meet a five year old girl who isn’t somewhat obsessed with unwrapping those surprise balls and revealing the characters and surprise blind bags hidden inside.

Last weekend, Erin had a slightly traumatic LOL Surprise experience, where she dropped one of the teeny tiny black shoes (her favourite ones of course) somewhere on her Grandad’s lawn. There were tears; lots of them, and I had fully accepted that finding something so tiny in a giant garden was going to be a little like finding a needle in a haystack. Thankfully Uncle Mark came to the rescue, and after half an hour of scanning up and down the garden ruling out each section of lawn piece by piece, the tiny little shoe was found and the afternoon was rescued. It was at this point that I wished that LOL Surprise! dolls were just a little bit BIGGER. and it appears that somebody out there was listening to my wishes!

LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets are the latest addition to the LOL Surprise range, and somewhat super sized in nature, we were lucky enough to be sent one to put through its paces!

About LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets

The LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets are giant versions of the LOL Surprise Pets, and each have 15 surprises hidden inside. With the ability to wear the revealed pet as a backpack, use as a money box, or add a handle to make the surprise ball a carry case, LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets offer something quite different! Inside each giant surprise ball, as well as the super sized pet, children will find accessories for both them and their pet, mini baby pets, and charms to add to their collar. With some surprises needing a little additional digging in kinetic sand to reveal them, as well as blind bags and clues to solve with the 3D colour glasses, there is plenty in LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets to keep them entertained!

Our Experience of LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets

As always Erin was super keen to get started with unwrapping the LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets and set to work pretty quickly at ripping the giant ball from the box. Before the ball is opened, the packaging reveals a pair of giant glasses with 3D lenses which can be used later to solve clues. These were a little on the big side considering the product is recommended for children around 5 years, however the fact they kept falling off made her laugh even more!

The LOL Surprise! Biggie Pet is in a giant sized ball, much larger than the traditional sized LOL Surprise! balls and Erin was able to see a little sneak preview of the character inside. The packaging tells you which animal you have, so whilst this part isn’t a surprise, the 15 additional surprises inside are.

Once Erin had opened up the large surprise ball (she needed a little help with this as it was a little tricky) it clipped open to reveal the giant Bunny character inside – he was very cute!

The character comes with a long leash style belt and a little collar to go around his neck. This also doubles up as a little bracelet for children if they prefer to wear it themselves. He also has a slot on his head enabling him to be used as a moneybox, which is a very nice little twist on the original LOL concept. As a parent I really liked this, as often with LOL Surprise! products most of the packaging becomes surplus to requirements and therefore produces a lot of waste.

To open up the bottom of the LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets, you twist the piggy bank style stopper at the base. Erin let out a little woop of excitement when she saw just how many blind bags were stuffed into his base, and pulled them all out to reveal lots of little bags and pots to open!

There was a mixture of large and small blind bags, as well as three plastic pots, each of which contained kinetic sand and had another surprise hidden inside.

Erin was able to use one of the little spatulas from another blind bag to scoop away some of the very soft kinetic sand in order to reveal the miniature pet surprise hidden inside (you might want to avoid doing this on the carpet like we did as it does tend to go everywhere!)

Other accessories included a wish bone, a fortune teller, some more glasses, and a large bone accessory to hook onto the collar.

It was at this point Erin discovered that she too could also wear the carry handle as a collar if she wished! Alternative this could be used to carry the large ball case as a bag.

Some of the surprises within the LOL Surprise! Biggie Pet have additional clues and puzzles that can be solved using the 3D glasses but I have to admit Erin wasn’t particularly bothered by this, and was more keen on playing with the ones she had already unwrapped.

Finally, with a bit of help from Daddy (as the straps are a bit fiddly to adjust), Erin was able to pop her Biggie Pet on as a rucksack, perfect for taking her LOL favourites with her if we are out and about or visiting friends.

Overall thoughts of the LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets

Overall the LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets are great fun, and something a little different to the other LOL Surprises we have had in the past. At £36.99 they aren’t cheap, and would have to be a more substantial present than the regular sized LOL Surprise! Balls. That said, as a parent I did feel that you got a fair bit for your money with this set, and with the inclusion of the larger sized pet which can be used as a money box, it feels like you have something more substantial than just lots of small plastic pieces.

As always, there was lots of unpacking and revealing with plenty of blind bags to open, and I loved the fact that a few of them required Erin to dig away to reveal the mini characters hidden inside. it all added to the anticipation and prolonged the play time which was a real positive.

I asked Erin which of the LOL’s she preferred – the biggie pet or the smaller LOL dolls, and she said she still prefers the smaller dolls, however she was very quick to reassure me that she loved the biggie pets as well. There are 3 different LOL Surprise! Biggie Pets to collect, and I have a feeling Father Christmas will be seeing a request for one of the others!

The LOL Surprise Biggie Pets are available to buy now from The Entertainer and retail at £36.99. As always, come September the popular toys for Christmas start to sell fast, so to avoid disappointment I would recommend buying these sooner rather than later if you have a big LOL fan on your hands!
