REVIEW – NEW PJ Masks Super Moon HQ, Rocket and Figure Sets

REVIEW – NEW PJ Masks Super Moon HQ, Rocket and Figure Sets

As you will know from my previous PJ Masks toy reviews, Erin is an absolutely HUGE fan of the PJ Masks TV series, and absolutely loves the range of toys that were released to accompany the show. If you are not familiar with the series yet (where have you been?!) PJ Masks features the lives of three best friends – Amaya, Connor and Greg. By day they are normal everyday 6 year old children, but by night they turn into a crime fighting team of super heroes called the PJ Masks, who go on missions to save the day as Owlette, Cat Boy and Gekko. Erin’s favourite character is Owlette, and she loves using her mini figures to act out little scenes and create her very own PJ Masks missions. The latest episodes of PJ Masks which have recently hit our screens all follow a Supermoon / Space theme, and so this Autumn there is a range of  BRAND NEW toys to compliment them.

For any one who has a PJ Masks super fan at home, it is quite likely you are going to see a few of these appearing on Christmas wishlists this year-  but what can you expect from the range?

We were super excited to have been sent a selection of toys from the new range to put through their paces. Erin has tried them out first, and we are hosting a special PJ Masks Space Party on the 17th October with Erin’s cousins to play a whole host of PJ Masks space themed games – I cannot wait! Come and follow us and UKMumsTV on Twitter to see more pics from our party where we will be really putting the toys to the test, but for now, here’s what you can expect from the NEW PJ Masks Toys range.

About the Products

Mission Control HQ Playset – NEW FOR AUTUMN – £49.99

Firstly and probably the most exciting addition to the PJ Masks range is the NEW The PJ Masks Mission Control HQ Playset featuring three levels of action packed fun!

This transforming playset represents the iconic PJ Masks headquarters as seen in the new episodes of the show, including the infamous totem pole lift which allows the PJ Masks to whizz from the top floor to the bottom in a flash! The PJ Masks Mission Control HQ Playset exterior features three doors, each with the symbol of the PJ Masks characters Gekko, Cat Boy and Owlette, and opens up to reveal three levels packed full of features that will keep children entertained for hours, including a secret trap door to capture villains in a lightning bolt cage and a removable light and sounds control panel which plays key phrases and sounds from the show.

The set does require a bit of initial assembly, although this is relatively straight forward once you have removed all the parts from the packaging and it comes with batteries included. The set also includes two characters from the show – Cat Boy (one of the three main heroes) and evil villain Romeo, making it the perfect set for PJ Masks fans who are just starting their collection.

Erin absolutely loved the secret trap door, which with a quick press of a button, lead to the floor falling away and the villain dropping into the lightning bolt cage below.

The totem pole lift is a really great feature of the PJ Masks Mission Control HQ Playset, and was probably Erin’s favourite part as she has played with this element a lot. It includes a little clip to hold the character in place, and then with a quick button press the lift spirals round the totem pole from top to bottom – gathering up quite some speed!

The control panel on the Mission Control HQ Playset is fully removable, meaning it can be played with independently of  the set, and includes a range of sounds and voices from the show, with bright lights that help bring the set to life.

Whilst the Mission Control HQ Playset is on the larger side, I love the way it can all be closed in on itself when not in use, with plenty of space to store additional characters and pieces your little ones are bound to collect on the way.

Super Moon Adventure HQ Rocket – NEW FOR AUTUMN – £49.99

Also new for Autumn, is the PJ Masks Super Moon Adventure HQ Rocket – a large rocket / spaceship style toy with lights and sounds – playing a number of sound bites and rocket noises. It comes with one character – Gekko, and his space rover motorbike, which can be stored safely within the hold of the ship whilst the rocket is flown around, before being released at the touch of a button to launch down the ramp.

With legs that fold up (or can be unclipped completely) and moving launcher wings, as well as a little built in handle perfect for small hands to carry, the PJ Masks Super Moon Adventure HQ Rocket is the ideal accessory for acting out space adventures, and perfect for taking out on the go or when visiting friends and family.

The front cock pit area of the Super Moon Adventure HQ Rocket opens up to reveal seating space for up to three characters, and is also a great way to store other PJ Masks accessories securely when not in use.

The new ranges also come with lots of additional character sets, which are ideal for those who are working to a smaller budget, or prefer to buy items that are somewhat smaller in stature.

First the Super Moon Adventure Figure and accessory set  – NEW FOR AUTUMN – £9.99

Based on the brand new episodes of the PJ Masks TV show, these characters come with their special supermoon spacesuits, and a selelction of accessories including a shield, helmet visor and accessory, as well as a jet pack which really lights up when pressed, as if representing the flames popping out of the bottom.

With poseable arms and legs, these sets are great for acting out mini missions, and there are three different sets to collect – Gekko, Cat Boy and Owlette.

Speed Booster Vehicles – NEW FOR AUTUMN – £13.99

The PJ Masks Speed Boosters Vehicles are ideal for those who love the element of speed, and each set comes with both a character and speed booster car, ideal for racing or rolling around across a flat surface. Erin has really enjoyed racing these to see who is the fastest superhero!

With lots of great attention to detail on the Speed Booster Vehicles, and their large chunky and sturdy nature, these are perfectly sized for small hands whilst still feeling like a substantial toy. Again there are three different designs to collect, one for each of the main superhero characters.

Super Moon Adventure Space Rover and Figure Assortment (Super Moon Adventure theme) – NEW FOR AUTUMN – £9.99

The new PJ Masks Super Moon Adventure Space Rovers include a figure, super moon themed accessory and a space rover vehicle just like the ones featured in the show – the transport of choice for saving the day in their super moon missions!

Erin really loved Owlette with her laptop accessory, whilst Neve very quickly claimed Catboy and his blue moonrover, which she has pretty much not let go of since!

Finally, an existing line from the PJ Masks toys range, but one that really helps bring the larger HQ sets to life is the PJ Masks Deluxe Figure Set which retails at £34.99. This large figurine set features all of your children’s favourite characters from the series including Cat boy, Gekko, Owlette, Luna Girl, Romeo, Night Ninja, and the three Ninjalinos which are fully stackable and can stand on top of each other. The figures are 7.5cm tall and have poseable arms and legs for acting out key scenes.

Overall, we think the new additions are fantastic add ons to the existing PJ Masks toys range, with something to suit every budget and even those with limited space, offering a variety of both small and larger size sets. With the smaller items making ideal stocking fillers, and the HQ Rocket and the Mission Control Playset being more of a main present wishlist, I can see these being incredibly popular this Christmas! As always, the toys very accurately represent the scenes and characters from the show, with great attention to detail, and lots of fab accessories that can quite literally allow for hours of creative play.
