REVIEW – Party Popteenies – Every Day’s a Party!
Introducing Party Popteenies
As a parent it can be pretty hard at times to keep up with all the latest toy releases. Just when you think you know what is going to be top of your little one’s wish lists, a new toy is released, an totally blows the others out of the water. As a parenting blogger, I am pretty lucky that I have a slight advantage, in that I get lots of prior warning about new toy releases, and can make an informed decision early on about whether my daughters are likely to enjoy them. Today is an exciting day on the toy front, as Party Popteenies from Spinmaster are released in the UK. Having been a huge hit already in the US, and with a cult following on YouTube developing already, it’s fair to say that if you haven’t heard of Party Popteenies yet, you definitely will do soon!
We were sent a selection of Party Popteenies from Spinmaster for Erin to put through her paces, and here’s how we got on!

Our Experience
We were sent three items from the Party Popteenies range – a Party Popteenies Surprise Popper (retailing at £4.99), a Double Surprise Popper (retailing at £9.99) and a Party Surprise Box Playset (retailing at £14.99).
Erin was really excited by the bright and colourful packaging, and after watching the You Tube video to get an idea of what to expect, she was super excited about twisting open her first Party Popteenie and seeing which of the characters she would reveal inside.
The popping process is relatively straight forward, and there is a little leaflet attached to the outside of the popper for those who are using one for the first time. First the outer cellophane needs to be removed, but this is fairly easy using the perforated zip and Erin was able to dot it herself. The the guidance leaflet is removed, and you can then simply twist the base of the popper. There is no set number of twists before it pops, and as such, the anticipation is quite exciting. Once you’ve twisted enough, the lid POPS open and a shower of confetti and spiral ribbons fall to the ground, whilst your popteenie character is revealed sitting on the top of the tube. Erin really loved the popping process, and despite me being a little scared about the mess, the confetti was easy to gather up and can even be kept and reused for craft projects and such the like. Unfortunately the popping process itself can only be done once.
In the base of the popper is a blind bag style pack of accessories, which can include bags, hats, or even little pets. Some of these are quite small so be prepared to have somewhere safe to keep them or they risk getting lost.
For £5 each, I think the Party Popteenies Surprise Poppers are really good fun and very reasonably priced to suit a pocket money budget. My only word of advice would be to pop your hand on the top whilst you pull of the cellophane, as we did have one where the lid came off before we twisted and the confetti fell out and Erin was a little upset!
Party Popteenies Double Surprise Popper
The double surprise popper has twice the excitement!
Firstly, Erin had to pull apart the two poppers to separate them and in doing so, out popped a selection of blind bags with small accessories inside as well as the doll’s pet bestie. The surprises continue with two poppers to pull, twist and pop. The first contains an exclusive Party Popteenie, wearing a fab, glittery outfit and in the second was a some deluxe party accessories including a magical cake and party props! Each Double Popper includes themed stickers and chip décor for even more party fun
This was probably my favourite of the range, as it had so many surprises for Erin to explore. I loved the fact there was one larger accessory inside in addition to the smaller hats, bags and pets.
Finally we were sent the Party Surprise Box – which I think would make a lovely gift for someone’s birthday, as it is presented just like a gift, with a little zip to reveal the contents inside.
Once the outer layer has been removed, there is a a small window to give a preview as to what’s hidden inside: Rainbow Unicorn Ava stands beside her mini confetti popper, waiting to party!
Inside the Party Surprise Box there are lots of mini flaps to open (think a mini advent calendar!) including two larger ones. Within one package you’ll find cute gifts, and an adorable tiny pet, while the other package holds super-cute furniture and a delightful cake!
There is a mini popper in the set which when pulled apart releases a poof of confetti, and in the remaining ‘doors’ there are lots of party treats like a delicious pizza or hamburger and party essentials like tiny plates and cups.
Once all the items had been removed, Erin enjoyed creating a mini party scene, using the decorative streamers and balloons to create a party scene. With the box opening out to become a mini playset, this held Erin’s attention for a long time, and she really enjoyed acting out little parties with her popteenies selection.
Overall, Party Popteenies have been a huge hit with Erin. They are a little bit different and would make a great birthday gift or party bag alternative for birthday parties.
Pros:
- Fun interactive way of revealing the surprise characters inside.
- At £5 each I think these are a really good price and perfect pocket money collectible.
- The characters are all fun and friendly looking, and make perfect little toys for imaginative play.
- Bright and colourful with a bit of a cult following, children will enjoy comparing which characters and accessories they have collected.
Cons:
- When unwrapping the Party Popteenie, I would recommend popping your hand on the lid, as one of the poppers the lid popped off as we were removing the cellophane and Erin got a bit upset when all the confetti came out without her needing to twist the base!
- As a parent, sometimes the thought of confetti going all over your carpet is enough to break you out in a cold sweat, so if you’re a little on the OCD side you might prefer to pop these outside!
- There is quite a lot of wasted packaging with Party Pop Teenies once the character and accessories have been removed. It’s a shame these couldn’t be utilised in some other way once popped, but if nothing else they could be used as pen holders!
- There are some reallllly small parts in some of the sets (including the unicorn hat which is tiny!) so you may want to store them safely in a little pot when not being played with else they are very likely to get lost.
