REVIEW – Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre
Peppa Pig has become a bit of a childhood right of passage in this house. Just like her elder sister was before her, Neve is a huge fan of Peppa Pig, enjoying watching many episodes on repeat during moments of chill out time at home. She loves George, loves Mr Dinosaur and Teddy, and always laughs out loud when Daddy Pig does something stupid (which is generally quite a lot).
We were recently asked if we would like to review the NEW Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre, part of a new “When I Grow Up” collection from Character, and I had a feeling it would be right up her street. Neve received a Peppa Pig laptop for her birthday and absolutely loves it, but we only have a few of the individual characters for her to play with. As such, I had a feeling Neve would be chuffed to bits to have more to add to her collection.
About the Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre
Children can create their own Peppa Pig adventures with Dr Brown Bear’s Mobile Medical Centre. This push along ambulance opens up to reveal a full medical centre inside. The removeable roof coverts into a little waiting room incorporating two seats and a height chart. You can then open the sides of the ambulance to discover a fully equipped operating theatre, including an x-ray machine and a gurney bed! The Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre comes with a Peppa Pig, Teddy, and exclusive Dr. Brown Bear figure included and is fully compatable with other Peppa Pig figures and toys.
The Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre is recommended for ages 3 and above (due to some small parts) and has an RRP of £29.99.
Our Experience
Despite Erin having in general moved on from Peppa Pig (now aged 5), both girls couldn’t wait to get their hands on the Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre when they saw it in the box, and were keen for me to start to unpack it. Neve is under the recommended age (having just turned 2 years of age) however, with the exception of the teddy and first aid box (which are both on the smaller side) the set is generally made from larger pieces and as such I am happy for Neve to play with whilst supervised.
The set takes a little while to get out of the packaging as its secured quite tightly in place, and some of the string holding it together is hard to spot, so attempting to do this whilst small hands are trying to grab the contents is a little easier said than done!!
Whilst I am sure no one else would be as stupid as me, it’s also worth pointing out that on one side of the medical centre interior, there is a lift up flap which reveals the sticker showing medical supplies. I was convinced we had a sticker missing until a friend kindly pointed this out!!
Set up in it’s original format, Neve and Erin both enjoyed pushing the Mobile Medical Centre around as a little ambulance in it’s own right before removing the roof to set up the different scenes. Neve did need some assistance putting the roof back on, although was able to remove it easily on her own.
The set comes with two figures included, a small Peppa Pig character wearing a nurses uniform and hat, and the infamous Dr Brown Bear, both of whom can sit in the front of the ambulance, (with bum shaped imprints on the seats that can also fit other peppa characters – we have a Mummy Pig and Madame Gazelle from other sets).
Due to his size, Dr Brown Bear can be put into the ambulance from above only (no matter how hard Neve tried to attempt it from the side when the roof was on!
When the lid of the Peppa Pig Mobile Medical Centre is removed it can be turned on it’s side to create a little waiting area with two chairs.
I really liked this part of the set, as it was a fun way of encouraging the girls to use their imagination and act out little stories, with different visitors coming to see Dr Brown Bear and waiting for their appointment.
The sides of the ambulance can then be folded down to create steps, and medical areas, whilst the gurney bed can be rolled around and placed where ever your child wishes. The x ray machine can be moved from left to right and up and down depending on the size of the patient! 🙂
Both girls have played with this a lot since it came to our house a week ago, and my only criticism is that there is nowhere safer inside the ambulance to store the smaller pieces like the first aid box and the teddy. Even in the first week that teddy has become the bane of my life and got lost a few times around the lounge, ending up with Neve in tears and all four of us hunting around the until he has been located and safely returned to the ambulance! It would be great if there was a little box with a door where you could pop them safely inside when not in use.
The set is bright and colourful, with lots of interactive elements the girls can play with. For Peppa fans, the Mobile Medical Centre is an ideal way to start creative play, bringing their imagination to life and encouraging them to play together (if they can draw straws on who holds on to teddy that is!!).
