REVIEW – Stickerscape – Rocket Wall Sticker

Up until recently, my daughter’s room was quite a blank canvas. When we moved her into the room as a baby, we painted the walls a very pale lemon yellow / cream colour and apart from the curtains and her bed linen, the room has been a tad lacking on the personality front. I’ve always seen pictures of wall stickers and wanted to add some fun features to her room, so when we were asked to review the space themed wall stickers from Stickerscape we were excited to see them in action!

Our Experience

We ordered the Pink Flying Rocket Wall Sticker in the larger size with 3 glow in the dark stickers attached. The stickers arrived quickly and were very well packaged, in a large cardboard tube, to ensure that they were safe and undamaged in transit. All the individual stickers were on one large sheet, simply needing to be cut out individually before application.

The instructions very easy to follow, on one small sheet of A5, and a link to an online video was also included for those who prefer more visual instructions.

I’ll be honest, the first 5 minutes of our application process was spent with me and my other half arguing about reading the instructions as he just wanted to get stuck in (men!) . He took the attitude “how hard can it be to stick a sticker to the wall” where as I wanted to make sure we were following the process as recommended. When we overcame that hurdle (and I won!!) the process was very straight forward.

One thing I would say is that the video recommends that you wipe the wall first to ensure no dust or residue – the written instructions didn’t state this but it probably makes sense to ensure the surface is clean beforehand.

The stickers are really easy to apply. First we planned out where we wanted the rocket to go. We wanted it to look like it was taking off into the sky (without actually being on the ceiling).

We cut out the individual pieces and mocked up the positions, agreeing on their final home. As per the instructions, we then used a plastic store gift card to make sure the transfer paper released the sticker and then placed them on to the wall. We then used the card again to rub firmly onto the wall and left for 5-10 minutes before removing the backing paper. We then used our hands to ensure that the sticker was smoothly set in place.

With the large rocket sticker, we were glad there was two of us there to help each other, as removing the backing paper whilst ensuring no creases appeared was a little delicate. It reminded me a little bit of when we used to use sticky back plastic on our textbooks at school! 🙂

What I loved most about the application was how the stars were all individual and not in groups, meaning that we could get Erin involved in the process. She helped us decide where she wanted the stars to go and even helped Daddy with sticking a few. (We drew the line at having the alien poking out from behind the radiator though!!)

The finished effect is really impressive. I was really pleased with how quickly it brightened up the room, and Erin was chuffed to bits! She enjoyed watching as Mike put the alien in place, and her first reaction was “WOW I LOVE IT!!!!”.

The best part was when we turned off the lights, as three stars on the rocket glow in the dark, which Erin was very excited about!! I was a bit concerned that these might keep here awake, but they glow subtly for around 15/20 minutes after the lights have gone out before fading back to their normal shade, which is just long enough for our quick cuddle! The glow in the dark option costs just £2 extra, which I feel is definitely worth the additional fee.

The quality of the stickers is really high, and the finished effect does not look like something has obviously been stuck on – they are fairly flush once applied and have more of a wall art effect.

The price of the large rocket which comes with 9 individual star stickers and the 3 pre stuck glow in the dark stickers is £30. I think this is great value for money given the immediate impact it has on the bedroom. The whole process from start to finish took around 20 minutes, and some of that time was cutting out the shapes and deciding where to place them.

Overall, we are really chuffed with the stickers and would definitely recommend them to friends looking to brighten up a child’s room. The challenge will be deciding which ones to have!!

Pros:

  • Quick delivery and well packaged.
  • High quality stickers that don’t obviously look like stickers once applied (more like wall art or murals!)
  • Easy to follow instructions
  • Flexibility about how and where to apply – meaning that the child can get involved with choosing the layout.
  • Glow in the dark and personalised options available on some designs
  • Good value for money
  • Immediate impact on an otherwise “plain” room.

Cons:

  • Deciding which ones to get could take quite a while as there is a rather large selection!
  • Would be nice if some of the individual stars had been glow in the dark too as the glowing stars were pre stuck on to the rocket and therefore couldn’t be placed in position of choice.

*Disclosure – Please note we were sent a Pink Flying Rocket Wall Sticker from Stickerscape free of charge for the purpose of this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.
