Scruff-a-Luvs Jungle Limited Edition Rescue Pets

My two daughters, Erin and Neve, are both huge fans of Scruff-a-Luv’s rescue pets. We have reviewed a number of their products before including their new Scruff-a-Luv Spring Babies collection and each and every time the girls have loved the experience of washing and grooming their surprise animal in order to restore them to their former glory. We love the concept, and it’s a fun interactive activity for siblings to do together.
The variety of different Scruff-a-Luv’s on the market is now quite vast, with some limited edition varieties and some that don’t even require water and are available at more pocket money prices.
We were recently sent a Limited edition Jungle scruff-a-luv, a rescue animal from the jungle, where children can reveal one of 3 surprise characters – a lion, parrot or monkey.
Inside the box is similar to other Scruff-a-Luv we have received, with a surprise character curled up in a ball of fur- except this time, the ball is ombre multicoloured – in this case shades of pink and green, with the addition some jungle themed vine leaves wrapped around it. It also comes with a butterfly hair clip with soft fluttery wings and a purple leaf shaped comb for grooming.
Neve really liked the butterfly hairclip and immediately tried to put this in her own hair which was very cute!
As per most Scruff-a-Luv toys, the Scruff-a-Luv Jungle box also comes with an adoption certificate included so that children can officially welcome their character to your home.
To reveal your surprise jungle character, you simply need to remove the ball from the box, and pop into some warm water, where the vine leaves unwrap and detach, before you can fold open the character and experience the big reveal!
Neve was VERY Excited to get the monkey- with lots of shouts of “How did they know I wanted that one??” and I have to admit he was extremely cute.
I loved the addition of the Ombre Rainbow fur with two tone colours of pink and green making him really different and unique.
How do you make Scruff-a-Luv pets fluffy?
In order to make your Scruff-a-Luv Jungle character fluffy, here are some of my best tips (having done quite a few now!)
To make your Scruff-a-Luv Jungle super fluffy, add a touch of body wash or bubbles and scrub him slightly in the water. Make sure that you rinse thoroughly and squeeze out as much water as possible, as this makes the drying process much quicker.
Towel dry your Scruff-a-Luv Jungle character as much as you can, rubbing as you do so, as this helps work out any stubborn bits that are still stuck together. Then you can start combing through and grooming the hair. Neve wrapped Rosie the monkey up a little like ET as she did so!
Next use a hairdryer on a warm but not hot setting, and comb through your Scruff-a-Luv Jungle characters fur as you do so. Continue working on the areas that are still a bit scruffy by using the comb and fluffing with the towel as you dry.
For super speedy drying – you can even pop in the washing machine on a spin cycle but we didn’t personally do this. Patience is a bit of a virtue here – the process isn’t necessarily quick but if you take your time he does fluff up really nicely! I think the biggest mistake is to leave him to dry naturally or just stick them on the radiator, as they never seem to go quite as fluffy that way.
Above is our overall finished look for our Scruff-a-Luv Jungle Monkey. We had a bit of trouble getting the clip to attach or stay attached, but this didn’t bother Neve at all as she was quite happy simply hugging the monkey and playing with it.
Overall, as with our previous experience of Scruff-a-Luv products, the Scruff-a-Luv Jungle Limited Edition range was a big hit with Neve, and we loved the added additions of the vine leaves, the two tone hair and even the subtle patterns on our monkeys ears!
