Sensory Creative Fun with DoodleJamz REVIEW

Sensory Creative Fun with DoodleJamz REVIEW

AD – DoodleJamz gifted for review

The Easter holidays have arrived and like many parents, we are definitely feeling the holiday juggle. It can be hard to find low cost, screen-free entertainment for kids during the holidays, but thankfully DoodleJamz are here to help.

The girls are huge fans of sensory, ASMR and fidget toys and adore being creative too, so when I first heard of DoodleJamz, I was fairly confident that these were something they would both love.

We were recently sent some DoodleJamz Jellypics and Jellyboards to try out – and the timing couldn’t have been better!

What are DoodleJamz?

If your kids love finger painting but the thought of the mess in your home makes you retreat in horror, then trust me when I say DoodleJamz are a great solution.

These super squishy, mess free art pads comes in two different varieties – Jellypics – a jelly filled pad with hundreds of colourful  non toxic beads, and Jellyboards, a pad filled with a coloured gel liquid.

A sensory, therapeutic and calming, children can simply use the tool provided (or their fingers) to manipulate and move around the contents and bring designs to life.

Each DoodleJamz board comes with a removable backing sheet which can be replaced with designs of your choice – either using the emojis included, or heading to DoodleJamz.com to choose and download from a huge range of designs to print at home. The opportunities for creativity are pretty endless!

Our Experience

The girls loved the emoji designs included (and the fact you could switch between two different faces), but the flexibility to print off and add your own designs really opens up the variety and longevity of the product. Simply print them out, cut them to size and slot them in – changing designs in minutes from a huge range of themes.

If you don’t have a printer at home, do not fear – DoodleJamz can be used in loads of other ways too. We used this little Easter fella we ripped out from one of the girl’s colouring books. Anything you have cut to size or even your child’s own illustrations work just as well too.

The boards are robust and hardwearing, strong enough to stand up for some fairly substantial force from Neve, and they are also portable, lightweight and perfectly sized for popping into a handbag if you need something to entertain the kids whilst waiting at the dentists, waiting for your food at a restaurant or heading on a long car journey.

Both of the DoodleJamz boards were popular with the girls, however there was a clear winner in terms of preference and that was the Jellypics board – filled with hundreds of teeny tiny beads which can be moved to create outfits and designs on top of the custom background. The ink filled one was more subtle, with the designs disappearing faster as the ink slowly moved back into its original location – ideal for hidden messages or practicing letter shapes for younger users.

The girls loved creating different outfits for their bunny rabbit. If you’re feeling incredibly patient (or as a parent want something that will really hold their attention) children can even attempt to separate out the three different colours and create different coloured sections on their design. You will need patience and determination (neither of which I have) but the finished effect will be pretty impressive!

The DoodleJamz pads are super easy to use even for younger children. Neve is 5 and had no problem manipulating the beads to bring her designs to life. At just £4.99 each, they’re a bargain price too!
