Tips for Finding the Perfect Swimsuit

Tips for Finding the Perfect Swimsuit

#AD – This is a collaborative post

Getting ‘holiday ready’ as they like to call it these days, can be a pretty complex task. When it comes to feeling confident on holiday, we all want to be able to find that perfect swimsuit or bikini; the one we can put on, and stroll down to the pool feeling instantly fabulous. The perfect swimming costume is one that flatters your body shape (whatever shape that may be), compliments your best assets, and even hides the areas you are less keen to have on display. But how do you find this illusive perfect swimsuit?

Here are some hints and tips for finding swimsuits to suit your body shape.

If you have a big bust:

If you are blessed with a larger bust, opt for swimming costumes or bikini tops with full cups which tend to offer the most support. Depending on the brand, don’t be afraid to go up a size to give you a little wriggle room. Deep v necks are also very flattering on your cleavage.

For larger bust sizes, buying separate bra tops and bikini bottoms can also be useful, particularly if you are petite on the bottom half but require a larger top, and offers you the flexibility to buy a variety so you can mix and match.

If you have a small bust:

String and triangle bikinis are your friend – and you can go as skimpy as you like without having to worry about exposing yourself when you go down the slides! Bright bold colours and patterns look great on a smaller busy, and bandeau bikinis are ideal if you are lucky enough to have a toned athletic figure.

Many bikinis offer a little bit of padding to add a little boost, which is ideal if you want to enhance your cleavage at little.

If you hate your Muffin Tops

I hear you – trust me, I have that little overhang on either side of my knickers and I hate it! High cut bikini bottoms, tummy shapers, control swimsuits or tankinis are great for hiding those problem areas, and darker colours are best for creating a more streamlined silhouette and slimming shape.

If you have a Tummy Wobble

After two children, my main problem area is my tummy, which is a) larger than it probably should be and b) a little on the wobbly side. A classic swimsuit is the way to go. Draw attention away from your tummy by having a swimsuit with a focal point at the bust or cut outs. Side rouching can also be very flattering, as are one pieces with hidden control panels that can instantly make you appear much slimmer!

If you hate your Big Bum

Remember that what you think is a big bum is probably a positive as big bums are very on trend at the moment – don’t be afraid to work it! Hipster short style bikini bottoms or high cut briefs are a great way to flatter your voluptuous rear end!

Cover Ups

When it comes to the crunch, if you feel more comfortable not having it all out on display, cover ups and caftans are a great way to feel sexy and feminine on the beach or by the pool . They are also ideal if your legs are your best feature, as allow you to draw the attention to your toned and tanned pins rather than your torso.

One thing is for sure, we all have our own body hang ups, but the reality is – no body cares! Get on the beach, embrace the body you’ve been given and ENJOY your holiday. When you think of your own Mum from family holidays gone by, you’re wont be remembering her body shape or her swimsuit – you will remember the happy faces, the beaming smiles, and the memories that you made together – and so will your kids – trust me!

Happy Holidays xxx
