Valentine’s Gift Guide – For Men
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and if you haven’t already, now is the time to start thinking about what to get the man in your life to say thank you – thank you for being there for you, supporting you, making you feel like a princess, or in my case, thank you for helping keep me sane when Neve won’t sleep, for making me laugh, letting me have some much needed me time on a Monday night, and for accepting that he fully deserves to be elbowed in the ribs when his snoring gets too loud.
Whether your budget is big or small, we have some inspiration below for all of you.
For the trend setters…
For those with partners who work in an office, or who need to look dapper in their day job, why not treat them to a new suit from Dobell? With a range of styles and fits to suit every body shape, including sets with a waistcoat for more formal affairs, these suits are excellent value for money and great quality. We love this Light Grey Travel/Performance Slim Fit suit, which is beautifully cut.
With the weather we have been having lately, wrapping up warm is an absolute must, and as a woman I find something strangely attractive about a man in a good scarf! I absolutely love this Hugo Boss navy check scarf from Mainline Menswear. Mainline sell a wide range of designer menswear and accessories – and have a fantastic sale on at the moment – definitely worth an explore for everything from boxers and belts to shorts and shoes! 🙂
For a personal touch without getting too soppy and sentimental, these sleek and stylish Zippo windproof lighters are not only practical and useful, but look great, and can be personalised with a message of your choice such as a nickname or secret code! 🙂

For the foodie…
They always say the true way to a mans heart is through his stomach, and it Mike’s case this is most definitely true!! These sauce sets from Salubrious Sauce Co. are perfect for any foodie lover. With 3 different sauces inside, there is one for every occasion – from the Breakfast Sauce on his fry up, Horseradish on his Sunday lunch or Chip shop curry sauce on his chip butty, you simply cannot go wrong. Earn extra brownie points by making them for him as a Valentine’s Day treat (and one for yourself of course!!)
Who says gift baskets are just for men! The Manly Man does a variety of gift baskets with manly non traditional packaging that are ideal for men that are perfect for every occasion – from jerky to beer or even coffee you can check out all sets here.
For those who like a tipple…
As a Brummie born and bred, I was chuffed to see a special range of Peaky Blinders Gin and Whiskey at 31Dover.com – this iconic range is full of premium spirits distilled by the renowned Sadler distillery. The handcrafted spiced gin is bursting with flavour, made from a blend of nine botanicals including ginger and grains of paradise, and comes beautifully presented making it the perfect gift.
For Whiskey lovers, Il Gusto offer a miniature Whiskey gift set with 8 40ml bottles including single malt, irish malt and bourbon to name but a few, all presented in a smart wooden giftbox with sliding lid. These are the perfect size for a winter warmer, and with so many different choices of tipple, your other half will be spoiled for choice.
For the alternative date day…
We haven’t been on a ‘date’ for an extremely long time, largely because I am still breast feeding and babysitters cost a bloody fortune, however, if I can get a relative to watch the girls during the day, daytime dates are a fab work around! 🙂
Whilst I would love to take Mike for a spa day or something uber relaxing, Mike is a bit more of an adrenalin junkie, and therefore I have found an option locally that is much more up his street.
Whistle Punks is the ultimate urban axe throwing venue, and was recently featured on Harry Styles at the BBC, with Harry Styles and Nick Grimshaw putting the challenge through it’s paces. I think this would be a really fun activity (and also great for getting out a bit of pent up rage lol). With venues in London, Birmingham and Manchester, this is a fantastic option for an alternative idea for couples.
For the smaller gesture
Not all of us have money to burn, and when it comes down to the crunch, it really is the thought that counts. Here are some slightly cheaper yet equally thoughtful gifts that we would recommend.
Guylian have a fantastic range of their divine Belgian chocolates including this beautifully gift wrap pack of truffles – you haven’t even got to worry about wrapping paper! 🙂 – If truffle don’t take your fancy, their traditional hazelnut praline seashells are a valentine’s staple and prices start at just £5.
JellyBelly Jelly Beans have just launched a sparkling wine range of their world famous beans – designed to look like traditional bottles with gold embelishments, these mini bottles are filled with 42 grams of the non alcoholic flavoured sweets and would make the perfect mini romantic gesture to pop in with your card. Mike has the sweetest tooth in the entire world (which will be a nightmare in Sugar Free February!) but at least he will be safe in the knowledge that he doesn’t have to share! 🙂
However you spend your Valentines Day I hope you have a wonderful time!
Lucy
