What they should call the New Prince (but probably won’t)
Everyone loves the arrival of a royal baby, and after the wonderful news yesterday of William and Katherine’s second son, the world is now waiting with baited breath to see what he is going to be called.
Amid all the speculation, here are some names I think they should call the new prince, but one’s that in reality are never going to happen!
The Unlikely
Spencer – I said this when Katherine and William were expecting baby number one and of course it never materialised – I would love Wills to chose a name that honours his late mother – and with Diana’s maiden name being Spencer, I feel that this would be a modern twist on a royal name with a sentimental and heartfelt meaning. Unfortunately, not only do I think this would never be allowed, but Pippa Middleton is also now married to the brother of Spencer Matthew’s (of Made in Chelsea fame), meaning that there will already be a Spencer in the wider family. Having seen the antics that Spencer Matthews can get up to on and off the show, it is unlikely that they would want his name sake as a role model!!
The Long Shot
Jack – Prince William has never been shy about his love for Aston Villa, and can often be seen in the home stands supporting his beloved team. Earlier in the month, Prince William joked he would name his next baby after Jack Grealish, after the midfielder scored a belter of a goal against Cardiff City. Judging by the fact he also joked he would call it Jackie if it was a girl – I think this insight can be taken with a pinch of salt!!!
The Back Up Guess
Andrew – One that is I guess a slim possibility as it does retain some element of royal history is Andrew – and I felt this would be a good option as St Andrew’s College in Fife is where the couple originally met. Having something that is a reminder of their early roots would be a romantic and nostaligic way to mark the young price’s arrival.
The Never Going to Happen…
Salvator – I would absolutely love it if Wills and Katherine threw in an absolute curve ball and chose a really modern, non regal and non traditional name. Salvator was the name of the Halls of Residence when they were they met, and as such would be a fun way to mark a bit of history in their royal son’s life.
The new prince’s name should be announced any time soon, with a more sensible brain, my guess would be James or Albert. I guess we simply have to wait and see…
