Celebrating World Book Day with Books2Door
This is a collaborative post
It’s no secret that we absolutely love books in this family. We read every single day without fail and for good reason. Not only does it help expand our children’s vocabulary and comprehension, but it’s a great way to switch off, relax and live in someone else’s shoes for a little while. I love how reading can take my girls to a whole other world, whether that’s a magical kingdom or meeting characters to whom they can relate or empathise.
World Book Day is fast approaching and whilst it’s easy to get distracted by the dressing up and costume making, it’s also important to remember the real purpose of World Book Day. World Book Day is 26 years old this year and its mission is simple – to promote reading for pleasure and offer every child and young person, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, the opportunity to have a book of their own.
DId you know, reading for pleasure is proven to be the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success?
This World Book Day, we’ve picked up some books from Books 2 Door – an online book store who’s own vision is very clear. Not only do Books2Door make books affordable and accessible to everyone, but focus on children having less screen time and more storytime.
This World Book Day is an extra big celebration at Books2Door as it also marks their 19th Birthday – a huge milestone that is certainly worth shouting from the rooftops!
To celebrate, Books2Door are offering FREE DELIVERY on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd March to celebrate World Book Day and Books2Door’s 19th Birthday. Not only can you pick up some of the brand new World Book Day collection, but save significant money on box sets, new releases and adult fiction too!
The World Book Day Collection
We always love to see what books are released each World Book Day, usually including some well-known authors or characters. 2023 is no exception, this year features some great new titles including The Burpee Bears by lockdown legend Joe Wicks and a new title from our family favourite Tom Percival called Billy’s Bravery. We adore his other titles in the Big Bright Feelings range including Ruby’s Worry and Milo’s Monster – perfect for helping children navigate through unfamiliar feelings and emotions.
Neve was also chuffed to bits to see a mini version of Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart’s You Choose Series, with each page allowing children to pick from a range of illustrations to determine what happens next. These books make such a fun interactive read that can be different every single time you open the cover and this smaller-sized version is no exception. It’s also a great option to take with you if you’re travelling or going out for a meal – offering unique entertainment whilst they wait!
For older readers, A Dragon Realm Adventure sounds like the perfect magical escapism before bed, whilst Erin can’t wait to check out Adam Kays Anatomy and Marvellous Medicine – with his humour and comical style really helping children embrace learning in about the human body in a fun and entertaining way.
