Escaping the Laundry Pile

Escaping the Laundry Pile

#ad – this is a collaborative post

Laundry. URGH. If there’s one thing I hate about being a Mum, and a Mum that has a slight (huge) shopping addiction, its the massive amount of laundry that we seem to generate as a family. There’s a common meme that’s been circulating on social media about parents saying they must have more people in their house than they can actually see due to the amount of laundry in their wash basket and I can totally relate. Despite being only a family of four, our washing pile is constantly full, overflowing, or in most cases, doesn’t even get that far, usually being left on the floor, discarded in a flurry of morning madness or bedtime routine just inches away from the laundry basket.

Living with a 2 year old and a 6 year old (6 going on 16 that is) there are also numerous clothes changes a day, either to clean up from potty training accidents, sticky chocolate fingers or grass stained knees, or in the eldest’s case, simply because she wants to prance around as a unicorn / pretend to be a mermaid / dance around like a ballerina / rock around the living room pretending to be a star of KidzBop, all of which need distinct and uniquely different outfits (of course) and all of which only get worn once before they get shoved back into the wash.

In this house we seem to be stuck in a constant cycle of laundry washing where we are inevitably stuck somewhere between washing, drying, folding or putting away, and either the wash basket is full and overflowing or we have piles of dry and folded clothes taking up valuable floor space in the lounge. If I run out of time to put the neatly folded piles of clean washing away before the kids get home, they end up being jumped on, rolled through or used to make a castle fort, getting creased or crumpled, rifled through, or in worst cases snotted or dribbled on before they even make it upstairs to the wardrobe; meaning their journey back to the wash basket starts all over again. At times it can feel like you need industrial washing machines just to cope with the never ending washing cycle! It’s relentless, and I’m tired!

As a busy working Mum, I sometimes wish I could have a day to catch up, where I can pop everything else on pause to catch up on my washing and household chores, and maybe even throw in an episode of GOT or two. I recently heard about Laundryheap – a laundry and dry cleaning service that collect wash and deliver your laundry in a 24 hour period and it’s sounds like my idea of heaven!

The uber of the laundry world so to speak, Laundryheap washing service is really simple to use.

Collecting your laundry

First you simply schedule a collection at a time to suit you using the website or their handy ‘on the go’ app. Laundryheap are aware that many modern families have incredibly busy lives with schools, nurseries, office commutes and after school clubs, so they offer convenience for every sort of lifestyle, with the option to choose late evenings and weekend collections. For me, my collection time of choice would be early evening on a Friday – the point at which the washing basket is overflowing with ketchup stained school uniforms, socks which were at one point white and the workwear that me and my partner were over the moon to be removing at the end of a busy working week.

Processing your laundry

The driver collects your washing and delivers it to one of Laundryheap’s washing partners – where you can choose from washing, dry cleaning, and ironing services to suit your individual needs. Laundryheap currently offers services in London, Birmingham, Coventry, Manchester and Dublin (as well as Dubai and Amsterdam), so if you’re in one of those locations you’re in luck!

Returning your laundry

A mere 24 hours later, your clothes are returned to your home, workplace or even a hotel if needs be, clean and ready for action, the first items most likely to be returned to the wash basket 10 minutes later when your child blobs her spaghetti on it. *sigh*. No loading and unloading the washing machine, no bending and folding piles to be put away, and no roasting behind the ironing board when you could be enjoying your time off.

With prices starting at just £14.95 per 6kg load, or dry cleaning at £2 an item, you can’t put a price on regaining your weekend! Laundryheap also offer an 100% happiness guarentee, meaning if you aren’t 100% happy with their clean, they’ll re-process your clothes for free. For those like us who are trying to be more sustainable, you can also be safe in the knowledge that Laundryheap work with the environment in mind, using no harsh chemicals.

For an easy, convenient and affordable way to escape your laundry pile visit Laundryheap now. Full locations list available online.
