Livening Up Your Home With Colour

Livening Up Your Home With Colour

This is a collaborative post

When it comes to our properties, we should ask that they do more than simply keep us protected from the elements and a place to lay our heads at night. They should be inspiring. Indeed, our property should be our most favourite place on earth. It’s a lot to ask for, but when we spend so much money on something, we have the right to ask for a lot. While there are many ways to feel inspired and at peace in your home, one of the best — yet underrated — ways is to add more colour to your property. In this blog, we’ll take a look at some of the most effective ways to do this.

Get Funky With the Front Door

They say that you shouldn’t go too crazy when it comes to colour in your home. While you could transform your home into a work of art, the fact of the matter is that, unless you’re already an established artist, this would negatively impact your home’s value. So it’s important to make the most of the spaces where you can push the boat out a little. One example is your front door. Pick a bold colour, and you’ll find that it can bring a lot of life and energy to the front of your property. Plus, they can look exceptionally cute.

Add Plants and Flowers

There are so many benefits to adding plants and flowers to your home that it’s a wonder that more people don’t make the most of them. They can purify the air, put you in a good mood, and add some much-needed colour. Indeed, if you’re looking for a quick way to liven up a room, then there aren’t too many options better than adding a couple of plants. If you have a series of green plants and then periodically add colourful flowers, then you’ll notice that your home seems to be a much happier place.

Art and Photographs on the Wall

Hanging a work of art or a photograph to the walls can provide a focal room for the room, and provide a splash of colour too. If you’re buying art, then there are a few rules you’ll want to follow — for example, buy a high-quality piece, ideally a unique work. They just look better. For your photographs, it’s all about framing. If you’re hanging one of your own photographs, then take a look at online custom picture frames; they’ll help to make it look professional. As with plants, art and photographs won’t just add colour to your home; they’ll also bring joy too.

Colourful Appliances

There are certain things you’ll just need or want to have in your home that it’s working at full capacity. You’ll need to have a toaster and a kettle, for instance. Yet even these essential household appliances can provide an opportunity to inject some colour into your home. Rather than buying a traditional black or silver appliance, go for a colourful option. You’re going to have to buy one type anyway — you may as well use the purchase as an opportunity to add some colour to your home.

Your Furniture

While you won’t want all your furniture to be overly bright, it is recommended to add one bright item of furniture. For example, a single armchair that’s bright yellow can add a lot of character to your home.

Everyday Colour

Think about how many items are on display in your home. There’ll be dozens of things! All of these provide an opportunity to add more colour. Your blankets, towels, bedsheets, mugs, plates — everything essentially — will all come in colourful options.

Natural and Artificial Lighting

The lighting in your home won’t add colour, exactly, but they can illuminate the colourful items that you have in there. Plus, we can all relate to the lovely glow that atmospheric lighting can bring. If your home doesn’t get as much natural light as you would like, then make some changes. It’s nearly always possible to let more of the sun’s wonderful rays into your property. One recommended option is to change your windows. New, crystal clear windows will let more sunshine in, and especially so if they’re larger than the ones you’re replacing. For your artificial lighting, go for atmosphere. Sometimes it’s as simple as changing the bulbs to a softer option

Conclusion

Life shouldn’t be lived in black and white! Look at adding colour to your home, and you’ll find that it’s a much more enjoyable space to spend time in.
