Making Egg Hunts Easy and Exciting with Mashems
Ad – This post features gifted Mashems items
My girls ADORE the annual Easter Egg Hunt – in fact, my youngest starts asking about how long it is till Easter in roughly mid-January!! She loves nothing more than joining my niece and nephew in an Easter Hunt around the garden looking for eggs and exciting surprises to open up and reveal.
As a parent, however, taking on the role of the Easter Bunny can at times feel a little bit stressful! From finding fun places to hide the eggs to even remembering where you’ve put them, ensuring one child doesn’t get more than another and limiting the amount of chocolate the children eat before breakfast, it can be hard to manage, especially if the kids have already been gifted eggs from friends and family.
Each year, we like to include some chocolate alternatives in our Easter Egg Hunt – items that are small and egg-like in nature and require an element of surprise without costing the earth. Mashems are a great solution – stress-free, ready to go Easter reveal toys that can be hidden with no prep whatsoever! Perfect for creating a no-fuss easter hunt solution for parents who are limited on time.
Our Mashems Easter Egg Hunt
The girls were super excited to learnt that the Easter bunny had been to our house extra early with a special surprise for the girls!
We headed off to our local park where I had played the role of Easter Bunny and hid the treats that he had left for us!
Why are Mashems great for Easter Egg hunts?
Mashems are ideal for Easter Egg Hunts because they are small surprise reveal capsules, just like an plastic easter egg. These small capsules peel, twist and pop open to reveal a surprise character inside. There are loads of different themes to choose from, from Frozen to Barbie, My Little Pony, Harry Potter, Toy Story, Peppa Pig and much much more!
Each Mashems theme has 6 different characters to collect including one mystery character! Simply unzip the plastic to peel away the wrapping and reveal who’s hiding inside.
The soft and squishy pocket sized characters are not only super cute, but lots of fun to squash too!
Our Mashems Easter Hunt
Our garden is still recovering a little from Winter, so we decided to make the most of the weather (before it turns to snow) and headoff to our local park, which is looking absolutely gorgeous at the moment!
I dotted the Mashems and chocolate mini treats around in flower beds, trees, between bushes and amongst the dafodils and watched as the girls ran around excitedly seeking them, with their bunny bag ready to go!
The brightly coloured Mashems stood out really well amongst the surroundings, making them easy to spot even for younger Egg Hunt seekers like Neve (5).
Having a combination of Mashems and chocolate treats worked really well as the girls still got a little to satisfy their sweet tooth, but not enough to keep them hyper for the next fortnight!
The girls were super excited to get their Mashems home and peel them open! Our Mashems were from the Barbie Fashionista theme, something which proved to be a popular choice!
What’s Inside?
We headed back to the house with a basket full fo Mashems treats and we were super excited to see what was inside. The contents of the Mashem is a surprise, so you don’t know which of the 6 characters you may find, or indeed whether you will get any duplicates.
The girls shared the treats out between them (an essential rule of Easter Egg Hunts!) before peeling away the wrapping to see inside.
Once the outer wrapping is peeled away the plastic capsule can be twisted, popping open to reveal the Barbie Fashionista inside.
The girls thought the Barbie Mashems were adorable, with bright coloured cute outfits and fun fairstyles. They loved the slightly tacky, squishy feel of the Mashems too, which were a few cm each in height.
Whilst we didn’t manage to find the mystery character, we did get a good selection of the Barbie’s from the six Mashems we opened, with only one duplicate that the girls referred to as twins! Neve’s favourite is the one shown below, with a polka dot top and pink ra-ra skirt.
Overall, I think it’s fair to say the Mashems were a big hit. At just £2.99 each, Mashems are a great idea if you’re looking for an easy Easter egg hunt this April. With so many themes to choose from, you could even pick a different kind of Mashem for each child, helping them easily recognise which eggs are for them and ensuring that everyone gets a fair and equal amount.
Mashems are available at Smyths Toys now with an RRP of £2.99 each. Which ones would you pick?
