My Barcelona Wishlist

My Barcelona Wishlist

I absolutely love a city break, and I have been lucky enough to visit many European cities both for business and pleasure in my (ahem) 35 years to date. I love the combination of culture and history, bustling streets, shopping and site seeing, eating and drinking. Despite having loved Milan, Rome, Brussels and Paris, one place that I haven’t visited yet is Barcelona, and with so many places and landmarks to explore, it’s not hard to see why it’s still up there on my Europe city break bucket list.

With a range of accommodation in the city, Capri by Fraser Barcelona is an ideal centrally located business hotel, with a range of inclusive package stays available including breakfasts and travel cards giving you the freedom to explore. My plan would be to stock up on a heaty continental breakfast before heading off to see all the sights Barcelona has to offer.

Here’s my Barcelona wishlist for when we finally get to take the trip.

Watch a Barcelona Game

For Mike’s 30th we headed to Milan to see AC Milan play, and despite me admitting to not being a huge football fan, the atmosphere and the reaction from the Italian die hard fans was pretty hard to not get caught up with. It was a truly awesome experience, so I’d love to see FC Barcelona in action and do a stadium tour to see how they compare.

Illa Fantasia Water and Theme Park

Assuming that when we do get to visit Barcelona the children will be in tow, it would be rude not to have Illa Fantasia on my list – the ultimate family friendly water park with 22 action packed rides, from high speed water slides to the more gentle lazy river, this is somewhere I know each and every one of us would enjoy.

Flamenco Night at Tableo Cordobes

I’ve always been fascinated by Flamenco dancers – their agility, their passion, their boundless energy! Seeing them in the flesh whilst tucking into some yummy Spanish cuisine would be my idea of heaven, and I know Erin would be fascinated by their talents too, and probably spend the next month trying to re-enact their moves around the lounge.

Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar

Having studied gothic architecture as part of my Art GCSE, I have always wanted to visit Barcelona to see some of these stunning buildings up close and personal. The Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar is one such example, but I would quite happily spend my afternoons wondering past them all with my camera in tow!!!

Wine Tasting in Oller del Mas

Because it would be rude not to right? Barcelona is home to some of the best vineries in Europe, and there is nothing quite like stimulating your senses with some of the sights, smells and tastes of a wine tasting tour. Possibly need to leave the kids at home for this one though, as I’m not sure I can be trusted to do anything after a few glasses of wine.

Have you been to Barcelona? What other must visit places would make your list?
