Summer Style at Home with Protest Swimwear
*AD – This post is in collaboration with Protest
The prospect of Summer 2020 feels a little strange at the moment doesn’t it? If you had asked me what I thought my Summer would look like at the start of the year, I would have listed some fairly obvious choices. Family holidays playing on the beach, trips to visit relatives, barbecues and garden parties with friends, day trips and gatherings galore.
I LOVE the Summer months, not only because I love the arrival of sunshine and longer days, but because I love the fashion and clothing that I get to wear when the temperature starts to rise. My winter coats and jumpers get packed away until next year and I have a much needed wardrobe switch around, finally showing off some of milk bottle skin that hasn’t seen the light of day since September.
Over the last few weeks we have been blessed with some early April sunshine, and just because we aren’t doing all those summery things I’ve had planned, doesn’t mean that I can’t bring out some of my favourite Summer fashion. I recently discovered Protest – a design led sportswear company from Holland, which not only sells fashionable and functional sportswear at affordable prices, but some absolutely gorgeous swimwear streetwear and bikinis, including push up bikinis, bandeau bikinis and swim shorts.
For me, an important part of self care during this extended period at home is to get dressed and feel presentable and fashionable even though I’m at home; its great for my mental health, and helps me maintain just a little bit of normal in an otherwise crazy time. Browsing through the Protest website, I very quickly fell in love with Protest’s new rate of Spring / Summer streetwear pieces, all of which have been inspired by travel and feature prints and fabrics influenced by their journeys across the globe.
Some of their key trends for Spring and Summer 2020 include Broderie anglaise, palm prints and coordinated tops and skirts, as well as fresh, playful summer outfits.
I treated myself to this gorgeous Kudrow playsuit in black. Made from 100% viscose, which is super soft, airy and light, the playsuit is both cool and practical, perfect for Summer days in the garden with the girls. With a flatting cord tie at the waist and pockets (who doesn’t love pockets!!) the Kudrow playsuit also comes with a hook and eye fastening at the bust. As someone who is rather blessed in the bust department, I cannot explain how happy this makes me, as so many summer clothes use press studs these days and quite frankly, they NEVER stay closed! The hook and eye keeps everything securely in place, and I am looking forward to wearing this regularly over the next few months!
Thanks to the team at Protest, I have a 10% discount code valid until 30th June 2020, meaning you can pick up some of their SS20 collection at an even lower price! You can see the full range on the Protest website here.
