My Top 10 Friends Moments

My Top 10 Friends Moments

#AD – This post features gifted items from Pyramid Shop

As someone who grew up with Friends when it was shown the first time around in the 90’s, I was over the moon when I learned that Netflix are showing the entire series from start to finish, all 236 episodes, opening up Friends to a whole wealth of people who have NEVER seen it before. Despite getting a bit of a mixed reception from some first time viewers, for me, it will always be my ‘go to’ – the programme I will turn on when I am feeling a bit ‘blah’. It’s an instant pick me up, and even now, having seen each episode approximately 20 times, Friends still never fails to raise a smile.

Last year I headed along to Friendsfest to embrace my inner Phoebe, and I would definitely recommend it for any Friends fan – sitting in those iconic room sets and acting out the opening credits with umbrellas was so much fun.

For many existing Friends fans, the arrival on Netflix has paved the perfect excuse for a BINGE watch. Where is the popcorn? Read on to learn about my top 10 friends moments and for a chance to win some awesome Friends merchandise from the team at Pyramid Shop!

Here are my top 10 friends moments (in no particular order!) How many of these would make your top 10?

What, if any, have I missed?

1 – The One With The Cop (otherwise known as the One with the Sofa)

Never has watching someone attempt to move a sofa into their new apartment been so goddam hilarious! In this episode, Ross refuses to pay for delivery of his new sofa with the store only being 3 blocks away, but didn’t count for it being quite so challenging to get it up the stairs. Enter Rachel and Chandler, and now, I am unable to help anyone carry ANYTHING without breaking out into this episode’s classic quote!

Classic Quote – PIIIIVVVVVOTTTTT!

2 – The One Where No One’s Ready

In this episode, the group are getting ready to attend a function at the museum with Ross, who is getting extremely stressed because with just 22 minutes to go, no one is ready. Joey and Chandler argue when Chandler steals Joey’s chair, and Joey gets the ultimate revenge by wearing every item Chandler owns, whilst commando. And lunges.

Classic Quote – Could I BE wearing anymore clothes?!

3 – The One with the Prom Video

This flashback episode has all the feels – in this old video footage we see Rachel and Monica getting ready for their high school prom, with Monica being significantly larger than her current slender self! Rachel’s date, Chip, has not arrived, so Mrs. Geller convinces Ross to wear his father’s tuxedo and take Rachel to the prom himself. He reluctantly agrees, having secretly had a crush on Rachel for years, but by the time he is dressed and ready to go, Chip has arrived and the girls are racing out the door. The video ends with a close up of Ross’s poor heartbroken face.

Classic Quotes

Monica – “The camera adds 10lb!!!” Chandler – “How many cameras were ON you??!”

Rachel – “I can’t believe you did that!”

4 – The One where Ross finds out

In this episode Rachel is out on a date in an emotional state after learning that Ross and his new girlfriend Julie are going to get a cat. She gets extremely drunk and leaves Ross a voicemail stating she is over him, when the reality is that she is clearly NOT over him! After waking up with a hangover, she has a sudden realisation of what she’s done, just as Ross bursts in! This episode ends with a kiss – something we’ve been waiting for for a VERY long time!

Classic Quote – Ross – ‘You’re over me? When we’re you under me?’

5 – The One with Ross’s Tan

This episode makes me actually laugh out loud, despite the fact I have probably seen it about 25 times at least. Ross is envious of Monica’s tan, so he goes to a salon to get a spray tan, only to mess up the simple instructions and ending up doubling up on the one side. He goes back to try and even himself out, only to find the machine is slightly different, and he screws it up again. Despite you can see this disaster unfolding before you, his facial expressions get me every single time.

Classic Quotes – Ross – I went to the tanning place your wife recommended. Chandler – Was that place the sun!?

6. The One with the Birth Mother (otherwise known as The One where Joey Doesn’t Share Food)

In this episode Phoebe sets Joey up on a date with her friend Sarah, and all seems to be going well until Sarah makes the ultimate sin, failing to respect the one rule of not touching anything on his plate.

Classic Quote – “JOEY DOESN’T SHARE FOOD!!!!!”

7. The One with Phoebe’s Uterus (otherwise known as The One with Monica’s Orgasm)

In this episode, Chandler starts dating a girl who has previously been out with Joey, and is worried he wont be able to compete sexually. He goes to Monica and Rachel for advice, where Monica shares the 7 erogenous zones, and how to mix them up to get the perfect orgasm. Whether you agree with her order or not, I am yet to meet a woman who doesn’t raise a smile when listening to Monica’s reinactment!

Classic Quote – Monica – “Seven, Seven, (silent) SEEEVEEENN!”

8 – The One with the Embyro’s (otherwise known as The One with the Quiz)

In this episode, what starts out as a harmless game, ends up being a full on battle for Monica and Rachel’s apartment. Queue Ross’s quiz master skills, and a hilarious range of questions about the characters we’ve come to love.

Classic Quote – Rachel – “he’s a trans… a transponster!” Monica – “THAT’S NOT EVEN A WORD!!!!!!”

9 – The One with Ross’s wedding (2 part)

Not only do the wedding episodes have some awesome celebrity cameos, but there is NOTHING more awkward than watching someone say the wrong name on your wedding day! For first time viewing, this was totally unexpected and left us all hoping that Ross and Rachel may get back together!!

Classic Quote – Joey – “Man, you are Westminster Crabby”

10 – The One Where Everybody Finds Out

Phoebe finds out about Monica and Chandler’s secret relationship, so she and Rachel decide to play some mind games to get their revenge.

Classic Quote – “They don’t know that we know they know we know!”

So there we have it – that’s my list – it’s so hard to limit it just to 10 (try it!). My other favourite Friends quote of all time comes from Phoebe, and pretty much sums up how I feel about most things, most of the time.

“I’d love to help but I don’t want to”. 🙂
