Why replace car tyres in Summer?
#ad – collaborative post
When it comes to car maintenance, I’d be lying if I said it was my strong point. I rely on my Dad and partner far more than I should when it comes to changing car tyres, replacing bulbs and oil and water top ups. However, in recent years I’ve come to realise just how much we rely upon our family car – from school runs, to work commutes, day trips to family holidays, the car is a hugely important part of our lives, and we would be quite lost without it.
As a result, I am trying to learn more about how to look after and maintain my car.
Car Tyre Maintenance
We all know that in Winter, car maintenance becomes all the more important. In poor weather conditions, driving can be pretty trecherous, and having the right tread on our tyres, ensuring our brake pads are not worn and that our windscreen washers are topped up is fundemental before any long car journey. But actually, keeping a close eye on your tyres is something that should be done all year round.
Why are tyre checks important?
Having the correct pressure in your tyres can impact not only how your car feels to drive, but the amount of grip your tyres have on the road. If you are unsure of what your tyre pressure should be, you can refer to your cars handbook, which should advise the correct levels for your front and back tyres.
Having the wrong tyre pressure (over or under inflation) for any significant amount of time can cause the tyres to go bad and compromise fuel economy, meaning that you may get less miles per gallon for your money.
If you can continue to use worn out tyres, the tread may go below legal levels which could result in you being pulled over and fined by the police but more dangerously, could also make your vehicle unsafe and more prone to accidents, particuarly in wet conditions.
What should you do if your tyres need replacing?
Finding out that your tyre has a puncture, has unsuitable tread levels or is no longer fit for purpose can be the news that none of us want to hear, but what do you do if your tyre needs replacing and more importantly how much is it going to cost you?
You can choose car tyres online with fitting at Point S and the prices quoted on the site are all inclusive for local branch fitting – including replacing the tyre, valves and balancing and even the disposal of old tyres. Prices are quoted with the VAT included, so you can be confident that the price you see online is the price you will end up paying.
Once you have selected your choice of tyre, you can search for branches local to your home address (or even a workplace if that suits you better) to arrange fitting at a time that suits you.
What about servicing?
To ensure your car remains in road worthy condition you should have your vehicle serviced regularly (based on your mileage or the age of the car). Keeping a full service history will not only ensure that your car is safe on the road, but improve the sale price you can receive when you come to change your vehicle.
