REVIEW – The MULTY by Ninnananna – Baby Crib Phase
You may have seen my post last month about the fabulous Multy 4 in 1 Nursery Furniture – (https://realmumreview.commulty-4-1-nursery-furniture/) – an ingenious product that is four nursery products in one – from a baby crib, to a highchair, toddler chair and storage system.
I finally returned home with our baby around 2 weeks ago, following my fairly prolonged stay in hospital, and couldn’t wait to get the MULTY set up in our home. Due to my mobility still being reduced, we decided we would set up the MULTY on the ground floor, allowing me to put Neve down for her naps without needing to tackle the stairs. The great thing about the MULTY is that it is sleek and stylish, so does not look at all odd or out of place in our living / dining room space.
As Neve is 6 weeks old, we set up the MULTY in it’s first phase – the baby crib phase. I could pretend that I was clever enough to construct it myself but I’d be lying – that job fell to my other half, who is a little more confident in construction! 🙂 The product is made from strong and sturdy materials, and despite there being a fair few parts, the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. It took my other half around half an hour or so to put the crib phase together, and that was with my eager toddler trying to help!
The set up crib looks great, is fairly contemporary and modern and is spacious and airy with the open slats. It requires a standard size crib mattress, which although not included, isn’t expensive – we managed to pick one up for £39.
As Mum to a slightly colicky baby, I particularly love the rocking and tilting elements of the MULTY. The crib can be secured in place at three different heights – completely flat, on a slight incline, or even more tilted to around a 10 degree angle. It is easy to alter between the settings using the clip beneath the crib.
I personally like the slight incline the best, which is perfect for when Neve nods off immediately after a feed. Despite being winded and burped regularly, she inevitably possets (or worse pukes) when she lies flat on her back too soon after feeding, and this was significantly reduced when using the MULTY at an angle.
According to Ninnananna’s research, around 40% of babies get reflux and struggle to sleep for long periods, and something as simple as an incline can really help reduce the symptoms – preventing stomach acid from heading back up the throat.
The MULTY is also able to swing horizontally (forwards and backwards as opposed to side to side) – representing the gentle sway that the baby would experience in your arms. This is a really nice feature, and although we haven’t used the sway motion a great deal (I didn’t want her to become dependent on it!), it has been really useful for when she stirs slightly and needs a little encouragement to drift back off. With an older sister who isn’t exactly on the quiet side, this is a really helpful feature for ensuring she has the sleep that she needs! 🙂
Overall we are really impressed with the MULTY so far, and I am looking forward to transitioning the product to the high chair phase in a few months time (scary how fast that will come around!). When you consider that a similar looking swinging crib can retail for around £79 alone, the MULTY is excellent value for money in my opinion, particularly as we have 3 other phases yet to come! 🙂
