Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse REVIEW

Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse REVIEW

#AD – gifted for review

My daughter is on the move! I repeat, SHE IS ON THE MOVE!!! Over the last few weeks and months we have gone from crawling to standing and cruising to now standing a little on her own, and as of last week, she has started to take those adorable first few unaided steps.

As a result of her new found freedom, Neve is now into everything, and spends most of her time navigating around the lounge trying to find something to play with.

We recently introduced Neve to the Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse, and it has been a huge hit with both Neve and her elder sister. It is now also known fondly in our household as “baby jail” as it contains and occupies her in one place contently playing for long enough for me and Mike to watch Neighbours undisturbed. Life goals! 🙂

About the Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse

The Little Tikes Treehouse is designed to get your baby moving – and it does just that (if you can get her older sibling out of it that is!)

This premiere playset has over 80 activities and features that will grow with your child from 6 months to 3 years.

Babies will love the treehouse’s Magic Lantern, which includes three modes of play: Explore Colours, Dance Party and Collect Fireflies.  Baby will love watching the twinkling lights, grooving to the fun music, and collecting fireflies across the floor.

Other activities include a ramp style slide, monkey press release zip line, shapesorter, mailbox, archways to crawl through, a clicking clock, a door bell, a working door, ball feeder and zig zag drop and much much more!

The Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse retails at £89.99.

Our Experience of the Little Tikes Treehouse

As you will know if you have read our previous Little Tikes reviews, I always avoid the construction element of these toys where ever possible as I am the least coordinated person you will ever meet. I am lucky that either my other half or Dad usually volunteer to take on the task. I did actually attempt this one myself, but gave up halfway through as attempting it with the child in tow was never going to end well. That said, the instructions are pretty easy to follow for those who have some form of spacial awareness (not me!) and all the parts are clearly labelled. You do need a small screwdriver to fix the pieces in to place, but all the screws are included in a little bag. Left to his undisturbed devices, it took the other half around 15 minutes to put together.

My first impressions of the Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse were very positive. It can be used in two ways, either compactly as a square shape or folded outwards which although takes up more space, encourages your child to move around more using perhaps one hand for stability. It is made from sturdy plastic and as such, can be used indoors or outdoors (You would need to store back inside however due to it containing batteries).

Neve has just discovered a new found love of dancing and music, and so absolutely loves the sounds and tunes from the  Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse –  in particular the “find the fireflies” song, which spreads a red disco style light all over the carpet whilst playing a catchy tune. She also loves the sound of the doorbell and the little creak as she opened and closed the door.

The Pelican ball feeder is loads of fun, and Neve really enjoys opening up his beak, popping in a ball and watching it slide down the ramp. At first she had to be helped to do this, but over recent months she had gained in confidence and can now do this on her own. It’s great to watch her stand more and more, and she now stands with one hand for support whilst interacting with the other. Occasionally she lets go altogether, and her balance is improving by the day 🙂

There are LOTS and lots of interactive features on the Little Tikes Treehouse including the ball spinner in the giraffe’s tummy, the shape sorted and “mailbox” style door, and a little ramp which is lots of fun for them to crawl over.

If you have an older sibling like we do, it is great to watch the two of them play together, and observe Erin trying to teach Neve how the ramps work, or how to press the buttons on the music station.

Pros:

  • Easy to assemble
  • Lots of interactive features that grow with your child.
  • Disco / Musical Light show is really impressive.
  • Can be used in a variety of ways making every playtime session slightly different.
  • Can be used “open” or closed depending on the kind of play you want to encourage.
  • Teaches about shapes, colours, special awareness, and encourages movement and confidence in mobility.

Cons:

  • At £89.99 this is quite an investment,  the Little Tikes Light ‘n Go Activity Garden Treehouse is not a budget item. That said, it can be used over quite a long time span with your child, and as such, I believe it is good value for money. In theory the Activity Garden Treehouse can be used from 6 months, when your child is able to crawl and clamber around on all fours. As they then grow in size and confidence they can discover the other features of the Treehouse. Erin is now 4 and to be honest there have been a few times when Neve isn’t around and Erin has happily played with it on her own!
  • The songs stick in your head – a lot! 🙂 Not a negative as such, but just be prepared to break out into “Catch the Fireflies!” in the middle your office meeting.
  • This is quite a large product so if you are in a one bedroom flat with limited storage this probably isn’t the toy for you. That said, when it is in the ‘closed’ square set up, it can be easily popped in to the corner of a room and takes up no more room than a baby bouncer.
