Does your little one struggle to switch off at bedtime? Are they nervous about the dark? Do they need you to sit in their room whilst they drift off to sleep or always like to have the comfort and reassurance of having you close by?

The world can be a scary place at times and as such, sometimes after a busy day at nursery or school, children can struggle to switch off and relax. This is where Dream Beams can help!

Not only are they the cutest, squishiest and most adorable plushies ever, but they come with a very special secret! When the lights go out, these cuddly friends gently glow in the dark to become the perfect bedtime companion!

My girls absolutely loves squishy and cuddly plush toys, snuggling up with them before bed or even using them on a pillow when watching tv or on car journeys. I was excited to see how Neve would react when the lights went out!

What are Dream Beams?

The Dream Beams World is a world full of colour, hope and happiness. Every Dream Beam character has its own personality and talents – from singing and dancing to swimming and even super powers! They come with a single mission – to help every child to have a good night’s sleep and sweet dreams by providing emotional support combined with a multi sensory experience – cuddling, squeezing and supporting your child through day and night.

There are 10 adorable Dream Beams to collect in this Dreamscovery (with more series on the way). All characters are available in the standard 18cm size, whilst a small selection is also available in the larger 30cm size. Dream Beams are sold  at The Entertainer and retail with an RRP of £7 and £15.

Our Experience of Dream Beams

We were excited to be sent a surprise Dream Beams box for Neve to open when she got home from school. When she lifted the lid she was so excited to see a selection of characters hidden inside! We were sent three characters as follows:

  • Lola – 18cm plush ladybird –  Lola the ladybug is the official florist of the castle and is the best plant healer in Dream Beams World.
  • Kilian – 18cm kangaroo – Kilian the Kangaroo (which Neve thought was a bunny!) is incredibly strong and always happy to help with the heavy work in Dream Beams World.
  • Basil – 30cm bull – Basil is a forest ranger and loves to run marathons!

All of the Dream Beams characters are made from super soft plush material that is just crying out to be cuddled. Neve instantly snuggled up with them and found the friendly characters with big eyes really engaging. They are a good size, and from a parent’s perspective, I felt they were really good value for money compared to some other plush toys on the market which can come with some fairly eye watering price tags.

Each Dream Beams plush has small sections on their body that glow in the dark. To really make the glow stand out, it is recomended you place your Dream Beams plush in direct sunlight or somewhere bright for a few hours before bed, as this will produce the best effect.

When the lights went out, Neve loved the fact she could still see the smiling face of her Dream Beams smiling back at her. Whilst I am not confident that the glow will last very long, it certainly glowed for long enough for her to get to sleep, whilst the plush toy itself was calming and comforting to cuddle.

With 10 different designs to collect, children will love trying to collect all the characters in each Dreamscovery, and with smaller Dream Beams costing £7, it’s not completely out of people’s budgets to be able to achieve this either. They’re a much cheaper option than Squishmallows and similar in price point to Ty Squish-a-Boos, although there is a greater variety of squishmallow sizes The other characters include Dana the Dinosaur, Grace the Giraffe, Nickie the Narwhal, George the Gorilla, Henry the Hippo, Pablo the Pegasus and Luna the Light Fairy Princess – the latter of which is most definitely on Neve’s wishlist.
