Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) – is it worth upgrading?

Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) – is it worth upgrading?

After lots of sneak peeks and clues on Yoto’s instagram page over the last few weeks, we’re excited to reveal that the new Yoto Mini 4th Gen (and the full-sized Yoto Player 4th Gen!) have arrived and are now available to preorder – with delivery from late September.

In case you’re new around here, I’m Lucy, parenting blogger, toy tester, and the community manager of Yoto Fans UK. My family have been avid users of the Yoto Mini and Yoto Player since early 2019, so we know just how fab these players are for supporting screen-free fun, educational content, and wellbeing.

Want the lowdown on what’s new and whether it’s worth upgrading to the Yoto Mini 2026? Here’s everything you need to know about the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026).

How does the new Yoto Mini 2026 compare to the 3rd Gen Yoto Mini?

This is Yoto’s biggest hardware launch yet, with key improvements to its much-loved design, including more storage, a faster processor, and of course, a brand-new look.

With curved lines, smoother edges and of course, that pop of green, the Yoto Mini 2026 not only looks different – its spec has improved dramatically too. The main differences between the Yoto Mini 3rd Gen (2024) and the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) are summarised below.

Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) vs Yoto Mini 3rd Gen (2024) comparison table

What is the Green Button on the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026)?

Just like the full-sized Yoto Player, the Yoto Player 4th Gen 2026 now features a NEW chunky Green Button on the right-hand side.

As well as rounded edges that are easy for small hands to hold, the Yoto Mini’s green button offers

  • a quick way for children to access their favourite content
  • independent use for younger children – twisting and pressing the Green Button to play 20 of their favourite titles without needing to insert a Yoto Card.
  • Personalised playlists for night and say (set up on the Yoto App)
  • Shortcuts to digital-only cards and free bonus audio available in the App, including soundscapes and toothbrush timers.

Families can get started with the Green Button right away, with Journey Jams digital card included with the Yoto Mini 4th Gen.

What are the technical specifications for the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026)?

Ideal for on the go use and travel, the Yoto Mini 4th Gen 2026 has:

  • WiFi 6 for super speedy downloading
  • 64GB of storage for over 1,000 hours of offline listening (double the existing storage)
  • Bluetooth 6.1 headphone connectivity for reliable, wireless audio
  • IP67 splash and dust resistant designed to withstand adventures at home and away
  • Speedy, simple set up

Battery life looks to have slightly reduced; however, we will be sure to put this through hands-on testing once the product arrives in our home.

Will existing adventure jackets and accessories be compatible with the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026)?

Due to the addition of the Green Button, its unlikely you’ll be able to use the existing silicone adventure jackets. Headphones and wireless headphones will still be compatible with the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026).

A new range of updated silicone Adventure Jackets are being launched in four new vibrant colourways and an all-new wrist lanyard included.

The refreshed Yoto Travel Case now fits both generations of Yoto Mini, with the same space for over-ear headphones and up to 30 Yoto Cards – ideal for long car journeys.

How much is the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026)?

The Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) has an RRP of £89.99 – around 39% more than the current 3rd gen player. This may feel like quite a big jump but for those who travel regularly, the additional storage is a huge plus point.

Is the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) worth it?

As the Yoto Mini 4th Gen (2026) is only available to preorder, we’re yet to personally test it

From first impressions however the Yoto Mini 4th Gen will be worth it if:

  • you want faster downloads of your audio
  • you have a large Yoto card library and want more storage space
  • you want more on the go protection or a splash proof rating
  • you want Yoto to be part of your daily routine
