This post is in collaboration with My Little Green Wardrobe

I don’t know about you, but in recent years I have become more and more conscious of my family’s purchasing decisions and the impact they have on the environment. Climate change is getting worse, human behaviour is damaging our planet and the amount of waste we create is growing significantly, having a huge impact on our oceans and the environment. As a Mum, I really worry about the impact our actions will have on future generations – our children, and our children’s children.

Whilst we have always tried to live as sustainably as possible, it can be really challenging making purchasing decisions as a parent. Not only can it be hard to find toys that are eco-friendly, but it’s hard when buying clothing and accessories too. Which brands are really eco friendly and sustainable and which are merely jumping on the band wagon?

I recently discovered online retailer My Little Green Wardrobe, home to a wide range of ethical and sustainable fashion for children all under one roof. At My Little Green Wardrobe, not only can you be confident that you’re buying ethically made and environmentally friendly fabrics, but high quality clothing brands too. Products that instead of falling pray to the ‘fast fashion’ culture, can be passed on to siblings and friends and enjoyed for many years to come.

We were given the opportunity to review some products from the My Little Green Wardrobe range – here’s what you need to know!

About My Little Green Wardrobe

My Little Green Wardrobe was set up by Lucy – a Mum of two daughters who had struggled herself to find genuinely sustainable clothing for her children as they grew up.

Lucy found herself searching the web for hours and doing her own research in order to buy brands with confidence, and noticed a real gap in the market – a shop where parents could buy sustainable fashion for their children all under one roof, shopping based on values rather than merely the latest trends.

My Little Green Wardrobe was born – researching and curating brands that have high ethical standards – doing the hard work so that we don’t have to!

Having grown from strength to strength (despite the challenging climate over the last 12 months!), My Little Green Wardrobe have recently celebrated their first birthday, going on to partner with a wide range of ethical brands including Kite, Frugi, Muddy Puddles, Lilly & Sid and Hunter + Boo to name but a few.

Recently wining Best Sustainable Berkshire Business in the Muddy Stilettos awards, My Little Green Wardrobe uses only recycled packaging materials and each package comes with promo cards printed on seeded paper, meaning not only can your kids enjoy their new clothing but do so waste free – enjoying watching their wildflowers grow with every order.

Why should we consider buying sustainable fashion?

Sustainable clothing is about reducing the environmental and social impact of the fashion industry including:

  • using environmentally-friendly practices that protect the environment and workers
  • prohibiting the use of harmful pesticides, hazardous chemical dyes, toxic heavy metals and aromatic solvents.
  • seeking better conditions for garment workers – including paying a fair wage.
  • extending the lifespan of them by showing how to care for them properly and reusing or recycling where possible

Our Experience of My Little Green Wardrobe

We ordered three dresses from the extensive range at My Little Green Wardrobe.

We found the website really easy to navigate, allowing you to shop either by category e.g. dresses, tops, bottoms, swimwear or by values – clearly showing you the products which are marked as vegan, brands that pay their workers a fair wage or are female led.

With a huge range of brands to choose from, My Little Green Wardrobe have designs that are really striking and unique and much more individual than some of the brands you see on the high street.

Delivery is free when you spend over £45, and it’s certainly worth mentioning that there is currently 40% off across the store to celebrate their 1st birthday – valid until Sunday 10th July 2022.

When our dresses arrived a few days later, it was really reassuring to see the sustainable packaging. Everything from the recycled wrap to the plantable card inside screams eco friendly –  it’s clear this isn’t just a brand jumping on the bandwagon.

I was chuffed to bits with the dresses inside. The quality is noticeably high, the products are well finished and the designs were even more stunning in the flesh. Neve couldn’t wait to try them on!

First up we chose this STUNNING pinafore dress from Kite – made from 100% GOTS Organic Cotton – there is absolutely no plastic in sight! Even the fastening clips are made from wood! With adjustable straps for longevity of wear, this gorgeous a line dress can be worn alone or with a short or long sleeved tee underneath, this is a really striking piece that showcases our family’s love for the sunflower fields!

Next up from Lilly & Sid, we chose this divine rainbow dress that is spot on for Summer – made from super lightweight GOTS organic cotton with frill detailing to the front, Neve fell in love with this dress straight away (and has worn it pretty much ever since!) If you have younger siblings to cater for, they even having matching outfits for those that love a bit of twinning!

Last but by no means least was this stunning cross over back dress with a really unique Jellyfish design. Again the fabric is 100% GOTS cotton, and can be layered with a tee or jumper to be worn all year around! Who wouldn’t fall in love with this adorable little jellyfish?

For me it’s a no brainer, I will definitely be keeping an eye on My Little Green Wardrobe!
