Around this time last year, we learnt that we were expecting! Once we had our 12 week scan, IĀ began to thinkĀ long and hard about how I wanted to announce the news to friends and family. Somehow a text message didn’t seem quite enough, and I wanted to involve Erin in the announcement too – after all, she was being promoted to big sister!

I had seen some amazing pregnancy announcements on Pinterest, so decided to take some inspiration from these and make my own.

Here’s how I did it:

I used a largeĀ empty picture frame which I asked Erin to hold. I then asked her to pull LOADS of different facial expressions, everything from shock, to happy, to excited, to her most beautiful princess smile.Ā I also took some of her holding my scan picture, which I wanted toĀ incorporate into the finished image.Ā I must have taken about 300 pictures in total, just snap snap snapping until I found I had enough good ones to choose from. My daughter isn’t shy (which helps) and is fairly used to me bombarding her with my camera!

Once finished, I chose the shots I liked the best in order to tell the story… one surprised one for “Guess what” and then other smiling images to use for the rest of the message.

I then used an online picture editor to “black out” the contents of the picture frame. I have photoshop elements, but you can even do this on something really simple like paint if you zoom right in to the image.

Using the saved “blackedĀ out” images, I then used a photo editing app on my iPhone to create a collage. I used the Giant Square Collage Maker but there are lots of different mosaic apps available. You can chose the colour and thickness of the borders.

Finally I used the Typic app to add text to the images, telling the story and announcing the news.

I am really proud of the finished announcement and it went down a treat!
