We love reading about fabulous fellow Mummies – and recently our friends at are pops blog told us about the ‘The Mummy Tag’., I thought I’d join in so that you can get to know about me and what I do! The face behind the blog so to speak! 🙂

Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?

I’m a working mum, but have the best of both worlds in that I work part time – 3 days a week. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do this, both with the support of my partner but also my flexible employer, who allowed me to balance my hours around childcare. I get to spend 1.5 days during the week at home with my daughter, and then she attends nursery 1.5 days, and her Nanny’s 2 days a week. It’s great to have that mixture for her, and she benefits from the variety a lot!

Would you have it any other way?

Some days like my nightmare Friday (see – Today my Toddler Made Me Cry) I wish I was at work more often lol – but the majority of the time I really enjoy the balance of Mum and daughter time, and adult company. As much as I love the idea of being a stay at home mum, I think I would quickly go insane without daily adult interaction. I’m also quite a nerd so need to be intellectually stimulated. I respect stay at home mums a lot, as I think often it’s easier to go to work! Lol 🙂

Do you co-sleep?

Not if I can avoid it – I’m not a snuggly sleeper and like to spread out, so whenever she has been in our bed I’ve barely slept a wink! Erin was a pretty terrible sleeper from birth till around 2 years old, and now most nights sleeps through which is an amazing feeling. (Took long enough mind!). She occasionally comes into our bed if she’s feeling unwell, has had a nightmare or wakes and her mind’s a bit too active. Either that or we end up camping out in her room. Those occasions are getting fewer and far between though and I don’t mind because I love the cuddles! They aren’t little forever!

What is your one must-have item for your baby?

For me personally, we wouldn’t have been without the Baby Bjorn Balance soft bouncer. We were lucky enough to receive this as a baby shower gift and it was so helpful to be able to plonk Erin in it whilst having a shower. We used it for ages as when she got bigger she was able to rock and entertain herself! 🙂

How many kids do you plan on having?

We’re currently expecting our second. Originally my other half had said he would ‘have the snip the minute our second was born’, but I think there’s a little part of him that would love a 3rd, particularly as our 2nd is another girl. I think financially two will be our limit, as three adds so much more cost in terms of housing, travel, transport etc!

Date nights? How often do you have them?

A date night?? What is that?? Our date night usually consists of dinner in a restaurant with a toddler in tow! We haven’t been out on our own together in months! Date nights unfortunately tend to me limited to birthday specials but we do get time out with our respective friends once in a while whilst the other one “babysits” 🙂

Your child’s favourite show?

At the moment Erin’s a massive fan of the Lion Guard, but would happily watch the majority of Disney princess films on repeat. Thank god I discovered that there’s a Cinderella II and III otherwise I think I would be climbing the walls by now!

Name one thing you brought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

One of those sanogenic nappy bins! We lived in a flat when Erin was born, and as a result it was just as easy to nip to the communal bins with the dirty nappies. This time may be different in a house however, particularly when I have to go downstairs to get to the main bin!

Your child’s favourite food?

Erin is a terrible eater, so would happily live on beans on toast if I let her! Oh, that and Kripsy Pops (rice krispies!!)

How many cars does your family have?

Two. My partner has a company car, and we have a family car.

Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I’ve always been a little on the round side (apart from during my newly single phase when I did Trek Iceland and became super fit!). I put on 3 stone with Erin, and thanks to a regular breast feeder, was back lower than my pre pregnancy weight by the time she was around 10 months old. This pregnancy, I was a little fatter before I started, and appear to be putting on weight fast. Eating crisps for breakfast to help with morning sickness probably didn’t help! Hoping to get back in shape by walking and swimming once I am given the ok to do so. I currently swim twice a week as I find it very relaxing!

Dream holiday with your kids?

Probably an obvious answer but Disney would be the ultimate dream – I would love to see Erin’s face seeing all the Disney princesses in the flesh! She nearly had a malfunction at Disney on Ice, let alone the Disney parade!

Dream holiday without your kids?

I can’t imagine a holiday without Erin around, as we would probably spend the whole time just talking about her, however, if we could have gone somewhere before she was born and money was no object, I would have loved to go to the Cooke Islands (think paradise!) or to visit my best friend in Perth.

How has your life changed since having kids?

I’m more tired lol – I never realised the true meaning of tired until Erin arrived. I LOVE being a mum though – I love the reward and pride in thinking – I MADE THAT!!! 🙂

Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”

Erin kisses my tummy at bedtime and says goodnight to her baby sister! I think she will be so caring when baby arrives. She is clearly very excited and has always loved babies!

Where do you shop for your kids?

I have a slight clothing obsession, and can’t resist a bargain in the Next VIP sales!

Favourite make-up and skincare products?

I don’t wear a great deal of makeup as I have no idea what I am doing, but I do love Benefit – particularly their gift sets and hula lip gloss.

Huggies or Pampers?

We have always used either Pampers or Mamia at Aldi nappies.

Have you always wanted kids?

Always. Can’t imagine life without them!

Best part of being a mum? The cuddles and the random conversations. I love our little chats and realising the way my daughters brain processes information! 🙂
