Today marks the 6 month anniversary of #nightfeednatter, the Twitter community I created to help maintain my sanity – which has very quickly become my saving grace in the early hours of the morning.

One thing I never forgot from life with my first born, was the amount of time you spend awake during night feeds. They are relentless. At times, it feels like you are the only person in the world that is awake, particularly in the Winter when the sun seems to take an eternity to come up. Those hours between 11pm and 5am can seem like torture, and at times, it would just be nice to know that you aren’t alone, and that someone else, somewhere is going through the same thing as you!

So, this time, just before Neve was born, I decided I would try and create a little bit of a community – a community of Mums or Dads that are up with their baby’s / toddlers in the night. Whether they be breast or bottle fed, are having a battle with teething or colic, a resisting toddler or simply a hungry newborn, you can guarantee that someone, somewhere will be going through the same challenges as you – so why not come and chat about them?

In the last 6 months I have formed friendships with a number of other ‘regulars’ – those who are facing the same challenges as me – be it sleep regressions, teething, reactions to vaccinations or toddler tag teaming – we chat and vent about our frustrations, whilst sharing “I’m more tired than you are” GIFS. I have discovered the Twitter night mode, and I log in every single night.

So this is a thank you – thank you to the fellow #nightfeednatter’ers. Thank you for keeping me sane. Thank you for stopping me from sobbing onto my newborns head at 3 in the morning when she woke for the 20th time! You are all fantastic mothers and I have really enjoyed getting to know you! (Even if I do I secretly hope that your babies never sleep through so that I am not on my own again!)

If you haven’t joined in with #nightfeednatter yet – come join us!! Everyone is welcome, no topic is of limits, and we like to use gifs a lot. Simply use the hashtag on your tweets, and you can guarantee that one of us, somewhere, will come back to you!
