Are there any cheaper alternatives to Squishmallows?
Yes, there are a few alternatives to Squishmallows, specifically the Ty Squish-a-Boos and DreamBeams, both of which make a cheaper alternative to Squishmallows. Ty Squish-a-Boos in particular are particularly affordable in comparison. That said, Squishmallows have developed quite an iconic reputation in the soft collectable plushes space and chances are, your children will not want the Squishmallow alternatives or Squishmallow dupes quite so much. DreamBeams are probably the closest softness to the Squishmallow and the image below is a good example of how cosy they are to cuddle.
Here at realmumreview.com, my girls have road tested them all – Squishmallows, DreamBeamz and Ty Squish-a-Boos. Whilst they genuinely do love all of them (you can see our review ofDreamBeams here)– they have a marked preference for Squishmallows. With really unique designs and a level of softness that is just a bit more squishy and cosy than the rest, they have become somewhat obsessed in recent months, so much so that we have amased quite a Squishmallow collection!

As with many children’s popular toys however, what is popular with them isn’t always obvious to us grown ups! Exclusive to Smyths Toys, Dave the Shark Squishmallow is one of the Fuzz-A-Mallows varieties – with an even softer ‘fuzzy coating’. This shark certainly isn’t of the killer variety, with a friendly smile and cute fins.
With a really unique Tie Dye design, we love the cute little grin and the beautiful blue marble effect on this 16″ Triceratops Squishmallow. It makes a great accompaniment to any Jurassic World toys you’re planning on gifting too.

This Ty Squish a Boos post contains affiliate links
What are Squish a Boos?
Squish a Boos are some of the Ty toys brands’ most popular toys. Not to be confused with the iconic Beanie Babies or Beanie Boos, Ty Squish-a-Boos are soft, huggable pillow-shaped plush toys that make a great pillow or bedtime companion to cuddle. These squishy beanies come in a wide range of themes (including those of the original Beanie Boos) as well as animals and fun character designs. They also come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, with enormous glittery eyes and smiling faces. Each Squish-a-Boo has colourful, soft fabric and includes the official Ty Heart with name, birthday and poem. The collectible soft toys are suitable from birth.
What’s the difference between Ty Squish a Boos and Squishmallows?
Ty Squish-a-Boos are not to be confused with Squishmallows as they are two different brands both with their own unique identities. That said, they do share some similarities. Both are soft plushes that are comforting and squishy to cuddle, both come with a range of adorable characters and both are incredibly collectable. Ty Squish-a-Boos are also much cheaper than Squishmallows. There are also a number of different squishmallow sizes which vary in price. The average 25cm Squishmalllow will set you back around £10-12 (depending on the design), whereas a 25cm Ty Squish-a-Boos retails at around £7.
There were originally nine Ty Squish-a-Boos in each size, but since their release in 2021, there are lots more Squish-a-Boo’s being added to the collection
Where can I buy Squish a Boos?
Squish-a-Boo’s are available at lots of different online retailers as well as in store. The best places to pick up Ty Squish a Boo’s is the Entertainer, Amazon and Smyths Toys
Squish a Boos are suitable from birth, but popular with children 3 – 10 years old.
Are they worth the money?
In our opinion, as a regular toy tester, parent of two and family blogger with years of reviewing a wide range of plush toys, Squish a Boos are excellent value for money and a cheaper alternative to Squishmallows for those with a smaller budget.
Reasons to buy:
Cute and friendly characters including some of the original Beanie Boos designs
Friendly smiles and large sparkly eyes
Super soft fabrics and cuddly plush friends
Range of sizes to choose from
Cheaper alternative to Squishmallows
Reasons to avoid:
They’re not Squishmallows – this sounds harsh but there is something a bit iconic about Squishmallows that means generally kids prefer them. The designs aren’t always as cute as the Squishmallow characters.
In our experience, Squish-a-Boos can become misshapen a bit quicker than Squishmallows especially if laid on or used like a pillow.

Do your kids have Roblox gifts on your kids wishlist this Christmas or are they hoping to find some Roblox gifts to unwrap on their birthday?
My two daughters are 9 and 6 and both are fairly obsessed with the online game Roblox. Whilst the game does require some awareness from parents (with chat settings available that can be changed in the settings), Roblox is a great way for kids to engage with their friends in a virtual world.
In recent months however, the game has spanned into the non virtual world too, with a wide range of Roblox gifts, Roblox toys and Roblox games and accessories to collect. If you have a Roblox fan to buy for, here’s our round up of some of the best Roblox gifts you can buy today.
What is Roblox?
If you’re reading this post, then chances are you already know what Roblox is. but incase you don’t – here’s what you need to know.
If you have a junior school aged child, chances are they’ll have played, or at least heard of Roblox. With over 50 million players every single day, Roblox is a virtual gaming platform with a range of ‘servers’ or games where children can socialise, play with their friends, and explore 3D worlds generated by users. From Adopt Me to Blocksberg, there are lots of playgrounds to explore. Roblox can be played online or via the Roblox apps, and players are encouraged to register with an email address or mobile phone.
Children will LOVE creating their very own peronalised avatars, regularly changing their outfits and hair styles to reflect their personality.
Is it free to play?
Yes, Roblox is free to play, and it is VERY possible for your child to play Roblox without spending any money at all. The more the play, the more features and exclusive items they can collect. As you might expect however, there are in game purchase options, and in Roblox, this is done via the Roblox virtual currency called Robux, which can be used to buy accessories, outfits, or pets in Roblox,
In our family, we use Robux as their version of pocket money, but spend only small amounts (e.g. £5 a month) on purchasing Robux.

Roblox figures are definitely growing in popularity at the moment, and the good news is, they’re relatively affordable too, making them a great choice for a Roblox Stocking Filler for your child.
Most Roblox figures come with a few small accessories too, but they are plastic and if your child is anything like mine, you may find them all over your house!
We love the Funky Cheese Figure, with his somewhat random body made out of blocks of cheese!
Sometimes plush toys are the only thing that your kids ask for at Christmas, so if they love having a cute and cuddly friend, Roblox fans will love the official PIGGY collectible plush toys. Whilst the Roblox Piggy game is all about survival (and hence not particularly cute!) these plush toys are adorable.
It’s worth noting that the character is chosen at random from a selection, so you will receive a surprise item when ordering online and aren’t able to specify your choice.
