Who remembers the Care Bears? As a proud child of the 80’s, I grew up as a really HUGE fan of the Care Bears and can still vivedly remember the original theme tune from the episodes I watched religiously – “The Care Bears are here, lets give them a cheer, from the whole of the heart, they’re ready to start, caring for you!”
The Care Bears TV programmes have changed quite a lot since I was a girl, with shows now jam packed full of adventure and action, however one things has remained consistent throughout and that’s the most important message of all – the power of friendship, sharing and caring.
Now, to accompany the TV Series on Tiny Pop, there is a brand new range of plush Care Bear Toys for children to collect, love and hug to their hearts content. The Care Bears come in three different varieties – 6 different Medium sized Plushes, a larger Bedtime Bear and 6 smaller 9″ plushes to collect. We were sent a selection of items from the new range by Basic Fun to check out in more detail!
Medium Care Bear Plush
Each Medium Care Bear is 14″ in size, making it perfect for size for snuggly cuddles and comes with its very own collectible Care Coin – a large shiny coin with a caring message of love that you can pass it on and really show someone how much you care.
The Medium Care Bear Plush range is available to buy at Smyths Toys and retails at £14.99.
There are 6 Medium Plush Care Bears to collect and the characters are as follows:
- Cheer Bear – a very happy Care Bear who can always be relied upon to see the bright side of life and help others see it too! Cheer Bear loves cheering to help raise everyone’s spirits and her belly badge is one of of hope and happiness— a colorful rainbow.
- Tenderheart Bear is a loving bear who helps others to share their feelings and show they care, Tenderheart Bear spreads love and makes it grow and his belly badge is quite aptly a heart filled with love.
- Playful Funshine Bear loves to ensure that everyone is having a good time. He has a great sense of humour, is the life and soul of any party and really knows how to have fun. His belly badge is a bright yellow sun with an ever-present smile.
- Good Luck Bear is a real good luck charm, with good things following him wherever he goes and has a four-leaf clover on his belly badge!
- Grumpy Bear can be a bit of a grouch at times but its ok to be down sometimes – especially when you have your friends to love us and help us feel better. Grumpy Bear’s tummy symbol is a rain cloud with falling hearts – a reminder that even when we’re not feeling our best, our loved ones still have our backs!
- Share Bear is a super generous, care free and loving bear, who loves nothing more than sharing with her friends! Her belly badge shows two heart-shaped lollipops (one to share of course!)
Erin loved the addition of the Care Coin’s with the Medium Care Bears – and I absolutely love the idea of passing this on to a friend who might be feeling down or in need of a bit of a pick me up. In 2020, these little actions and signs of affection really mean more than ever before!
The girls both absolutely fell in love with Share Bear (purple is their favourite!) and loved her happy smiling face and huge eyes.
The Care Bears Bedtime Bear
When its time for bed and children are feeling a bit tired and sleepy, then the extra special Care Bear can make the perfect sleep time companion. The soft aqua coloured Bedtime Bear has super soft and slightly longer plush fabric, a cute sleepy expression (half open eyelids) and a belly badge with a moon and star design. Slightly bigger than the medium plush, the Bedtime Bear is ideal for snuggling up with for a great night’s sleep.

The Small 9 Inch Care Bear Plush
All 6 Care Bears are also available in the same characters as small 9” beanie plush perfect for younger children or pop culture fans.
We LOVE the rainbow design belly badge on the smaller Cheer Bear we were sent – the perfect keepsake for 2020 where the rainbow has become a sign of home, positivity and community.
The Small 9 inch care bear plush toys are available at The Entertainer and retail at £8.
Overall the Care Bears are really lovely and so similar to the originals I had myself back in the 80s. They are soft and cuddly, with cute chubby cheeks and bright beautiful colours, but most importantly; at a time when the world is all a bit crazy, they are a great reminder to children about the importance of friendship and caring for others. We could all do with a bit more of that in 2020!
